I've tried everything; and I can't seem to get past this VERY
(seemingly) simply problem.
I want to work with an array variable within a function(s).
I can't get it to work; if I:
1) global $arr=array(); (syntax err)
2) global $arr; in "main", the var isn't global
3) global $arr; in function, the array is cleared each time

I'm kind of lost on this one - I need to modify 2 files based on user input:
$data_array = file($data_file);
$counter_array = file($counter_file);
// There is a line-for-line relationship between the data and counter files
//for example, if the 3rd line in the counter file is deleted,
//so also must the 3rd line of the data file be deleted.
// Each line of the data_file has 4 items:
//date|ip_address|user_id|url
for ( $i=0; $i <...

hello everybody,
is there a way of creating an array with help of a function that would
accept the name of this array as a parameter and then create global
Array type variable of that name?
so that for example the following code would work as well in browsers as
under Windows Scripting Host:
str = "tableA";

Got this assignment in my VB .NET class. The program's basically a picture
viewer that lets you add your pictures to an array so you can cycle through
them once the file's been opened. So you open the file, it displays, then
you can select "add to list" from a menu. Anyway, I'm pretty sure the
filenames are being added to the array, and I can go directly to the first
and last images in the array by using the appropriate menu options, but...

(see the post by ASM in the original thread; can be seen at
<http://groups.google.com/group/comp.lang.javascript/browse_frm/thread/3716384d8bfa1b0b>
as an option)
As that is not in relevance to "new Array() vs " question or to the
array performance, I dared to move it to a new thread.

I am simulating a display that consists of 20x20 pixels. All pixels are
per default white but I would like to be able to turn on some or all the
pixels.
My idea was to create a 3 dimensional array:
in a
where the first index is the potential numbers of pixels that I would
like to paint (20x20). The following two index should be the coordinates

I would like to design an object using class. How can this class
contain 10 member functions. Put 10 member functions into member
function pointer array.
One member function uses switch to call 10 member functions. Can
switch be replaced to member function pointer array?
Please provide me an example of source code to show smart pointer

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
