How to use a drop down list to select from ViewState

I have an ASP.NET page with two drop down lists and several text boxes. A
dataset is created based on the first list's selected value and then it's
stored in the page's ViewState. It loads the first record fine, but how do I
allow a user to select an item from the second drop down list and update the
page's display? The users do not want a grid because there is too much data
to display in a glance.

I don't have an ASP.NET reference with me, but I've tried capturing the
selected value, index and other usual suspects, but the page will not update
its content. I know I confuse Windows Forms with Web forms, too. I'm stuck.

This is read only, no data altering will be allowed at this point.

Thanks in advance,

E.

Hi folks, When I set the datasource of a dropdown list and bind it, the drop down list always defaults to the first item in the list. I need it to default to Nothing or NULL or whatever it is now in .NET. The situation I've got is a group of combo boxes that interelate. So if you select item 1 from drop down A, you are prompted to select an item in drop down B and if you select item 2 from drop down A you are prompted to select an...

Hi, got a drop-down list on a windows form in VS.NET2003. In the form load when NOT a postback, we add four values to the drop-down list. These appear in Internet Explorer. When you click a button on the form, the value selected in the drop-down is supposed to be put in a label's Text property. However, when you click the button, the page refreshes and all of the values from the drop-down list are

I am stuggling with databinding a drop down list, hooking into the SelectedIndexChanged and attempting to avoid using the viewstate. The drop down list is quite large so I would prefer to avoid using the view state so I set EnableViewState on the page to false. To enable the drop down list to bind to a datasource I bind it during the OnInit. I do a response.Write during the SelectedIndexChanged event to verify that the event fires. ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
