Iterating through an enumeration?

Is it possible to iterate through all of the possible values of an enumeration? (with foreach, maybe?)

What I need to do is fill a ComboBox with all possible values for an enumeration.
e.g

foreach ([value] in [enumeration])
{
comboBox1.Items .Add (value.ToString ("G");
}

Is this possible? Is so, how?

Thanks in advance.

Jamie,

You can iterate through the enum by looking at its value. I have provided a
sample below.

I hope this helps.

------------------

enum Color{Red,Blue, Green,Yellow};
............... ..
Type colors = typeof(Color);
foreach(string s in Enum.GetNames(c olors))
comboBox1.Items .Add(s);

I know that I can set up an enumeration as follows ( just typed in quick so may have syntax errors ): <xsd:simpleType name="colors"> <xsd:restriction base="xsd:string"> <xsd:enumeration value="red"/> <xsd:enumeration value="yellow"/> <xsd:enumeration value="blue"/> </xsd:simpleType>

Sure... IEnumerable was inconvenient suggesting a separate class to service the enumeration, IEnumerator, and multiple operations: Current, MoveNext, Reset. (I'll warp the definition of "operation" for a second if you don't mind). However, it existed within intuitive language semantics, whereas the new "yield" keyword, while highly convenient, is also one of the most gross warping of language concepts to date... public IEnumerator...

I have a hashtable keyed by some name, holding an instance of an object. Most of the time I use the hashtable in the traditional sense, given a name, I lookup the object, then I run a method on that object. Occaisionally however I need to run a method on every object in the hashtable. I've done both For..Each and iEnumeratior loops. The messy part is that under certain conditions, while iterating, a condition exists where I need to remove...

Hi, I parse an XML file with a XSD schema. One XmlNode has an attribute whose type is a restriction of xs:string : <xs:simpleType name="stypeDay"> <xs:restriction base="xs:string"> <xs:enumeration value="Mon"/> <xs:enumeration value="Tue"/> <xs:enumeration value="Wed"/>

Background: I have some structs containing std::strings and std::vectors of other structs containing std::strings and std::vectors of .... I'd like to make a std::vector of these. Unfortunately the overhead of the useless copies made each time the vector is resized is too large for me to ignore. I know that rvalue references fix this problem, but I don't think they'll be widely available for years and I need something that works now....

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
