Hello:
I have an Access 2K form I built from a SQL Server 7.0 view. I want to
lock certain fields in the database from users so they can see them on
the views and forms, but NOT be able to edit them.
I've looked in BOL, MS SQL Server web page and SQL Server 7.0 books and
could not find how to do this.
Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I can not understend completely the lock statement.
Actally what is locked:
1. the part of the code between {...}
or
2. the object in lock()
In the docs is written:
for 1: The lock keyword marks a statement block as a critical section by
obtaining the mutual-exclusion lock for a given object, executing a

When my application starts 2 toolbars still remain open
1) Form View and
2) Formatting (Form/Report) Toolbar
Also ... Access's default Menu-Bar also remains open.
How to switch it off at the beginning of my application using VBA and
then switch it back on within the exit routine of my application ?

Access2k non runtime.
In a previous post, I mentioned that I wanted to hide the Access 'Menu
Bar' from view. That means that I DO NOT want to be able to see the
MenuBar, even as a momentary flash during the load of my project!
I thought I had accomplished this using the:
CommandBars("Menu Bar").Enabled = False In conjunction with a custom
blankmenu. But, as it turns out, it removed the default menuBar from
Access itself. This is...

Hi to you all once again,
I'm dealing with user point of view difficulties. I have a 3x3 "matrix" made with text boxes. Some cases require only 2x2.
My problem is: How do I hide, or lock (making unable to write), the text boxes that are not going to be used?
I was thinking that a drop down menu could give the program the initial conditions such as:
case 1 -> 3x3 (default)
case 2 -> 2x2

I'm working on a menu system where I have a 3 column table affair.
On start, you see a menu list in column 1.
Column2 will have some general information.
Column3 is an iframe for final data input.
About every damn thing I've seen on how to do this is the pure bare
bones basics. That is, click button 1 to hide, click button 2 to show.
Not what I want.
Or, they simply toggle a division below the "switch".

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
