Question about embedding (Reference & Resource)

With Reference/Resource is there a way of embedding the .resource file
within a folder of my application instead of having it in the main project
/executing assembly area. i.e. if I have a folder pertaining to variables, I
would like to have that "variables.reso urce" file within that folder and be
able to call it from there instead of calling it from the executing assembly
area. So far I am unable to figure out the complete syntax of redirecting
the Assembly.GetExe cutingAssebly() which I believe is where the syntax must
take place. I am desinging a windows form application and a sample of my
code is as follows:
private void Upload_Data( )
{
Assembly assembly = Assembly.GetExe cutingAssembly( );

rm = new ResourceManager ("Coding_Corner .variables", assembly);
this.pBoxReflec tion.Image = (Image)rm.GetOb ject("myPicture ");
this.rtxtBoxTit le.Text = rm.GetString("m yTitle");
this.rtxtBoxDat a.Text = rm.GetString("m yData");
}
Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

MikeY
Or maybe a better way of explaining this is that I don't wish to see 100
..resource files at design time, I'd rather put/hide them in their proper
folders.

Hi all, I have an application that logs in xml. Assume <xmlLog></xmlLog>. In this element the app logs anything it gets from foreign hosts. Now if the host sends xml data, the structure of the document changes. ie. <xmlLog><somTag></somTag></xmlLog>. This will cause problems with my log reader, because it assumes that <xmlLog/> contains non-xml data.

Hi there, I am trying to follow this guide (http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/Code/2004/March/MultilingualAppsInNet.asp) with regards to creating a multi language application. I want to offer 2 languages at the beginning - English and Spanish. My question is, do I need to embed the resource file for each language inside my main app?

Hi all, I'm looking for information on running a c# application on a webpage, just like a java-applet. And the second thing i'm looking for is information on how to display 3d graphics with c#. And if there are 3d model importers available for it (like milkshape ms3d or something similar). I'm not even sure if all this can be done, but if it can, i would like

I'm working on a plug-in for an application called DesktopSideBar for Windows. It emulates to some degree the Longhorn sidebar. The SDK for DesktopSideBar supports .NET plug-in development through COM Interop and a provided reference DLL. In the SDK are two included samples... One, called RecycleBin is written entirely in unmanaged C++ as a normal DLL. The second, StickerPanel, is written in C#. My first exercise was porting StickerPanel...

I've got an image I want to embed in a dll to use on a screen later. I've got it in a resource file, got it to compile in to the dll. The problem is getting it back out. It seems like my problem is in the get resource code. The code I'm using is: System.Reflection.Assembly myAssembly; myAssembly = this.GetType().Assembly;

Hello, I'm currently writing a XML processor for the fun of it. There is something I don't understand in the spec though. I'm obviously missing something important. The spec states that both Internal General and Character references are included when referenced in content. And "included" means: <quote>

....quick question for anyone who might have some experience with .net resource files in VS 2003. I have an application that is not localized, but I would still like to be able to place all of the images that are used for icons across all of the forms in all of the assemblies in a single resource file so that swaping out an image in the resource file affects all localtions that it appears in the app. Is there a way to create a single...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
