Hi all, We have a web page which validates users againt active directory (kinda), Effectively the code we use will check the user's password and if successful creates some session's for what access they have in the internal site. We have noticed though that the query against the LDAP doesnt seem to disconnect and by doing a netstat -a we get alot of ports with an ESTABLISHED status on the LDAP server. When this gets to around 200 it...

Hello -- I'm trying to get SQL Server 2000 on a Windows 2000 Server to be able to query an Active Directory. We've got two domain servers one Win2000 and one Win2003. However, I'm having problems: I've run the following query to setup the linked server: sp_addlinkedserver 'ADSI', 'Active Directory Service Interfaces', 'ADSDSOObject', 'adsdatasource'

I have 4 servers all running Active Directory. I have Install the DNS services on all the servers. (first) is this good practice, and the replication have passed to all the servers correctly. Second, should each server be the primary server or should I change this is in the zones. Third sould the TCPIP be config first DNS server itself, and the second another on on the network. The design of the network is based on a WAN with 4 servers...

Hi all, I've been searching the way to achieve the following task. But no luck so far. I have a web site(main site), which requires authentication. This authentication is set at Windows directory level, so user will see the pop up gray box in order to log in rather than custom web page. The username and password are stored at active directory level, thus this is the windows integrated security.

Hello, My company has charged me with creating a web service that will validate a user and return the user's roles via Active Directory. The requirement is that the web service must return data to any consumer. This means the consumer may be a Java app or any app on any platform. Now, my knowledge of returning data to consumers who are not .Net applications or platforms is limited. I was told to make sure that SOAP

This is actually a great script that will help authenticate your username and password within your domain. One thing I would correct is directly above the line that indicates: Set oADsObject = oADsNamespace.OpenDSObject(strADsPath, strUserName, strPassword, 0) place an on error resume next

The web application I am developing is using Active Directory and seeing as how I have never used the namespace before in C# or VB.NET I would like someone to point me to a great site(I have not found what I need on MSDN nor Google). I must be looking for the wrong things. I am trying to write permissions for tables on a GridView and still need help writing to a SQL DB and can't find any code references to go off of. As some of you know I was...

Folks, I have 3 loosely linked problems which I am would appreciate feedback on. 1). T-Sql and Active directory roles. We want to be able to control access to data within a table based on a role within Active directory. For example, Region1 has 4 sites, Region 2 has 3 sites and so forth. All the sites are held in a single database table.

I'm trying to develop a page which will grab a few details for the currently logged-in Windows user from the Active Directory controller. I can get the full name of the user from their username without any problems. What I can't do is find out which groups the user belongs to. The end result will hopefully be a method to ascertain whether the current user is a member of the 'mod' group, the 'admin' group, or neither. I've tried a few...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
