Active Directory VB.NET Namespace

The web application I am developing is using Active Directory and seeing as how I have never used the namespace before in C# or VB.NET I would like someone to point me to a great site(I have not found what I need on MSDN nor Google). I must be looking for the wrong things. I am trying to write permissions for tables on a GridView and still need help writing to a SQL DB and can't find any code references to go off of. As some of you know I was put into a Web Developer situation that leaves me as the only person working on a companies project while the senior level guy left and I am going off outdate php code. So pitty me as I am somewhat new to using the Active Directory in IIS and SQL. I just need references and I refuse code for those that want to provide it so don't post your code here.

In the mean time I will keep searching MSDN and search sites for a good reference sheet to AD and VB.NET. Thanks a lot.

Have you tried something like this one:
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/aspnet/adsi1.aspx and the 2nd one
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/aspnet/adsi2.aspx

I cannot speak for how useful it will be, but it might give some hints on how to start?

geat intro sources I'm going to bookmark that site. Also since you came thru so well with this question I have another. Any intro stuff for Exchange 2007 that would help me. Again VB.NET

Also sorry it's taken me so long to get back. I was buried to my ears in code and just got back from lunch. Thanks. You always seem to be the first to help.

Hey all, Working on revamping our Intranet here and making use of the LDPA, Active Directory, Directory Services, etc. that .Net provides. I am still fairly new on this subject, so the problem I have run into I am not sure how to fix, and really not sure what is causing it. Here's what is going on (test server - Windows 2003 Server): I have a page in a folder (under anonymous authentication in IIS6) that has a link on it that...

HELP!!!! VB.NET has been a thorn in my side, but trying to use the System.DirectoryServices namespace has to be one of the most ridiculously confusing classes I have EVER encountered!!!! Am I the only one trying to talk to ADSI using VB.NET??? No one seems to have any sample code for using this namespace except in C#!!! This should be a simple question....

I need to retrieve and set information in Active Directory in a new project that I'll be working on. I went to Amazon.com to look for a good book on this subject but found books on this subject all using C++. Can I make ADSI and LDAP API calls using C#? Can someone recommend a good book for this subject with C# as sample code? Thanks, Alpha

My goal, somehow, is to populate a dropdownlist with all the user names in active directory. I don't even know where to begin, really. I added a reference to System.DirectoryServices so I could use the System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectory namespace. I don't even know if this is the right way to go as I can't seem to find anything in that namespace that would help me query active directory for names. I can't use an LDAP query...

I haven't found exactly what I've been trying to do. All I am trying to do for now is just display usernames from Active Directory into a ListBox control on a page. I have found some code however that will just capture a Full Name from Text Box and display information from the Active Directory into a DataTable. I will display that code below.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
