Good morning,
I have a form containing a text-area,
I'd like to know if it exists a function that, when I activate an event,
returns the position of the cursor in the text-area.
For example, I write ten words in the text-area,
then I move the cursor at the beginning of the second word
and activate the event (for example, click on a button):
is there a way to know that the cursor is at the beginning of the second
word?

I'm currently writing some Python to manipulate a semi-structured XML
document. I'm using DOM (minidom) and I've got working code for
transforming the document to HTML files and for adding the 'structured'
elements which populate the higher regions of the tree (i.e. near the

I want to programmatically set the position of a cursor in a textbox
that has focus based on a X and Y value.
However, when I send a WM_RBUTTONDOWN and a WM_RBUTTONUP message to the
textbox it selects the text from where the cursor is to where I want
the cursor to be. All I want is to move the position of the cursor
based on a X and Y values, not select the text.

Is it possible to get position (in numbers) of the insertion cursor? As
I understood, Text widget uses mark named INSERT to store it, which is
available globally by just referencing INSERT, but how could I get
actual coordinate numbers of the mark?
I need this because I want not just to insert string at, but to examine
text before and after the insertion cursor. I can probably use .get() to
extract the halves of text before and after...

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
