Hello,
I've been trying and searching for a way to detect if SQL Server exists on
the computer, and, most importantly, detect SQL Server's version and service
pack level, but no luck to this point. I need it to be C# code.
Would anyone know how to use C# to detect if SQL Server is on the computer
and its version and service pack level?

Check the Registry. If you're looking for just the default instance, check
HKLM\Software\M icrosoft\MSSQLS erver\CurrentVe rsion and look at the
CSDVersion value for the Service Pack Level (8.00.760 is SP3, 8.00.761 is
SP3a for instance). Use Microsoft.Win32 namespace and RegistryKey to read
Registry.LocalM achine to get this info.

The company I work for has been running Access 2000 on a Windows NT
server with Opportunistic Locking turned off on the server without

I'm looking for a reliable way of detecting the version of Windows that the
..NET framework is installed on, specifically the service pack. Currently,
I'm using System.Environment.OSVersion and pulling the Major, Minor, Build
and Revision properties out of that.
However, e.g. Windows XP returns exactly the same values for no initial
build, SP1 or SP2.

When running my asp.net hosting service (asp.net without IIS), on server
2003 with IIS not installed, I get the following when trying to process a
request.
"System.DllNotFoundException: Unable to load DLL (aspnet_isapi.dll)."
Of course the dll is able to be found, it's still in the framework directory
and for grins I even put it in my service's local directory. This is apparantly
server 2003 not allowing asp.net to be run if IIS was not...

I downloaded Sql server 2005 express SP2 and attempted to modify the
Bootstrapper package files as I did with SP1
When i try to install SQL server as part of my VS 2005 deployment app I get
an error at the end of the SQL server install phase 'Invalid endpoint'.
(Note SQL server express gets installed OK)
If I run SQL server express SP2 setup directly it I don't get the error

Quick question.
Say I have a project against the 2.0framework. I also have a dll compiled
against 3.5. If I reference the 3.5 dll in the 2.0 project, how would that
work?
So I'm thinking that the 3.5 dll gets loaded in memory by the 3.5 framework
running in process X.
