What software can analyze my application and draw pictures showing classes and methods?

Hi,

I need some software that will analyze my C# application (consisting
of multiple projects and many classes) and show the relationships
between classes and methods.

I want to visually see what methods are called from each class.

Is there anything free that can do this?

I have Visio for Enterprise Architects, but I don't think it can
analyze code. Right?

THANKS!

Of course it can :) create a UML project and reverse engineer your code with
it. :).

Hi John:

If you have VS.NET Enterprise installed on the machine with Visio for
EA, you should be able to go to the Project menu, select Visio UML ->
Reverse engineer. If you have a solution selected Visio will reverse
enigneer all the projects.

Hi John,

What you need is a UML tool with reverse engineering feature. You could
either use Microsoft Visio (which comes with VSNET Enterprise), or you could
use Enterprise Architect from Sparx systems, or of course Rational Rose.

Thank you for your post.

I figured out how to do the reverse engineer in VS.NET and am able to
open the .vsd file in Visio. I see all my classes, but I don't know
how to create a picture that shows the interaction between the
classes. Is there a way to make it show my classes and methods in a
diagram?

Thanks,
John

Hi John:

Once everything is reverse engineered you can drag and drop onto a
diagram and create your own picture. Classes in an inheritance chain
should automagically hook up.

What's better about Ruby than Python? I'm sure there's something. What is it? This is not a troll. I'm language shopping and I want people's answers. I don't know beans about Ruby or have any preconceived ideas about it. I have noticed, however, that every programmer I talk to who's aware of Python is also talking about Ruby. So it seems that Ruby has the potential to compete with and displace Python. I'm curious on what basis it...

It only supports basic IntelliSense (or code completion) and doesn't have anything...

Hi I am developing on a Symbol MC70 devices and in the past they have always realised an SDK for development including Symbol.Camera Wrapper. However it seems that for the MC35 they are not, or it is not yet available. We have a current application written in C# CF2 that uses there Symbol.Camera Wrapper and runs on the MC70 but we want to offer this same solution on the MC35. And this is casing us some difficulty.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers.
