override keyboard for custom scrollable control

Hi
I made a form with picturebox and scrollbars. However,
scrollbars react to arrow keys. What I would like is that
scrollbars react only to mouse. Is there a way to ignore keyboard for
scrollbars or to know if mouse has been used on scrollbar?

Hi

I'm note sure if this will work with a scrollbar, but I have found that it works very well with
preventing keystrokes on other controls.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  &nb sp; protected override bool IsInputKey(Keys keyData) {
  &nb sp;   &nb sp;   &nb sp;   &nb sp;   &nb sp; if (this.ActiveCon trol == this.scrollbar)
  &nb sp;   &nb sp;   &nb sp;   &nb sp;   &nb sp;   &nb sp; return false;
  &nb sp;   &nb sp;   &nb sp; else
  &nb sp;   &nb sp;   &nb sp;   &nb sp;   &nb sp;   return base.IsInputKey (keyData);
  &nb sp;   &nb sp;   &nb sp;   &nb sp;   }

Well, it seems that Microsoft, or whatever powers that be have decided it's time for us to have yet another standard keyboard layout change. I think I see that the point of this one was to reduce the space occupied by the keys on the right, so the reach to the mouse is not so bad, but the way they chose to do it? Ah - I see. Since most of what we type will simply be deleted at some point, let's make sure the Delete key is big and easy...

Here's an interesting problem that someone might have an answer to... Some time ago, I wrote a set of utility classes which wrap up the custom row source function needed to add arbitrary items to a combo or listbox. It all works nicely and allows me to do things such as sorting by clicking on column headings. Recently, all the machines here were upgraded to Access XP from 97 and I thought it might be time to take advantage of the new...

Hi, Can someone point me to some good best practices kind of documentation on use of events compared to method overriding. Ex. In Windows Forms when should i have an event handler for Paint, and when should i override OnPaint? I have to implement added functionality in a child class, and am in two minds .. to have the parent fire an event, or make the method virtual and override in the child. Am hoping some reading with description of...

Hi everyone, I'm working on a small little project of mine and got stuck trying to add my own usercontrol into a scrollable object. For example, when a download is initiated under Mozilla Firefox, an entry will be added into the download window's panel/groupbox/whatever that is. Please advise on what object/control to use to accomplish this task. I have considered using a panel, but the panel control does not provide automatic...

Hi all, In my project I have a control (described in an earlier post) which basically consists of three "subcontrols": One big area where the vital data is displayed (scrollable, since it will usually be larger than the window containing the parent control), a time strip on top of it, and a resource list on the left. Long story short - when someone scrolls the scrollable data control, the time strip and resource lists are hooked to keep...

I am looking to create a multi-column list that is scrollable, kind of like a ListBox control, only I need a way to align the columns of text that I will have (I would use spaces, but because the ListBox normally uses a variable-width font, that would not work). Is there a control like the DataList (a control that uses templates and databinding) that displays the items in a scrollable manner? One idea that I had, although it sounds rather...

I have created a simple custom control, which displays a string data on it. It draws the string at its OnPaint(). When the string is changed I can call Invalidate() to redraw the string. Sort of simple. But I guess it might not be efficient. The instances of my custom controls are on a scrollable contrainer, so if it is not in a viewable area, calling Invalidate() may redraw things even if it's not necessary. Is Invalidate smart enough not...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
