Note: I tried cross-posting this message to several newsgoups,
including comp.lang.perl.misc, c.l.p.moderated,
comp.infosystems.www.authoring.cgi, comp.lang.javascript and
comp.lang.php. Nothing appeared on my news server, so I'm trying
again - this time posting a separate copy of the message to each
group.
I'm thinking this should be fairly easy to accomplish - a quick and
dirty ... what? ... script? program?

This is probably a very simple question (I hope), but my usually great
web searching abilities have not turned up the answer I am looking for.
I have a php page that includes a file for example index.php has an
include for menu.htm. Inside menu.htm are some images in the same
directory. All works great in that scenario.
Here's where the trouble begins. If I want to include menu.htm inside
a php file that is in another directory (say...

I'm relatively new to scripting in JavaScript, so I'm not too
surprised I'm having difficulty scripting up an animation effect for
my personal site.
What I'm trying to do is the following: When I go onMouseOver on a
button in a nav bar, I want that button to switch to a different image
while at the same time another blank image changes as an animation to
an associated image. When I go onMouseOut, the bar image reverts back
to the...

This might be a newbie question or otherwise easy stuff for some of
you, but it's tweaking me ... can't seem to get it to work right.
I am working with a script that basically creates two arrays, and with
a single call in the html, randomly inserts a graphic (which is linked
to another page, as defined in the second array). The working example
is

I'm trying to do my site without table unless absolutely necessary, and
I've run into a problem I'm not sure how to get around. I have a div
with float:right that contains some images (the outer edges) and a div
sandwiched between two of them. The sandwiched div has a background
image which is to tile based upon it's width. The thing is, divs are
normally set to display:block, which causes it to be placed on it's own
line. If I set it's...

Hi,
What is the better way to save image into a database ?
Just save the path into a field or save the image itself ?
I have 20 000 images (~ 10/12 Ko per image ) to save.

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right group to ask. I am developing a
small image library and I don't know how to hide the actual path to
the image. So I go to the stock photo library websites to see how they
hide their images. This is what I see from gettyimages.com

I know this is not actually a PHP question, but I figured this would
be the place to go to get a good answer. I have a website for the
neighborhood I live in and people's main concern is security. All the
pages I made in PHP and I have a login for users and all sensitive
information requires users to be logged in. I would like to post
images on the page, but I know that if I put them on a page that is
behind the login the images are...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
