Browser ActiveX problems in C#

SPG
Hi,
We are using the AxSHDocVw.AxWeb Broswer control in our C# app. (It is the
standard I net active X I think).

Anyhow, we are experiencing some odd behaviour. Every now and then we find
that a page will not load into the control. On most occasions it is fine,
but when it happens we simply get the progress event pinging us infinitely.

I have included an event trace of two page loads. One that worked and one
that doesn't. As you can see, the failed page seems to mis out a second
BeginDownload section.

Has anyone had any experience with this control, and maybe have some advice?
Alternatively, are there any .NET specific web controls?

Cheers,

Steve

Hi, I'd like to write a simple portable browser plugin for Internet Explorer, Netscape and if possible other navigators too. Is there a way to do that using Python? For now I'd like to develop something like the GoogleBar, but I'd also like to know how to develop "in-frame" plugins such as Flash or Realplayer. I searched comp.python.com history but all I came across was someone saying "why would you want to write Browser Plugins in...

Hi, I need help badly. Can you do client-side programming instead of server-side to capture the Browser type info? If this is the case, what's wrong with the following? <script language="JavaScript"> function doWord(file) { if (navigator.userAgent.indexOf("MSIE")!=-1)

I am considering a situation where I have (n) number of form windows, each with an instance of the Microsoft Web Browser Control (IE) on each form. In each web browser control is an HTML page that has a Java applet. This is the only way I am aware of to get a Java applet to paint within a .NET Forms window. Given that scenario I am trying to determine whethere there would be one Java VM loaded for all of the (n) applets inside the (n) MS...

I have the following problem: My client application (c#, WindowsForms) uses the IE Browser ActiveX Control to display either HTML or PDF files. This is fine so far. If the Acrobat Reader is configuered appropriately, the pdf-Files are displayed right in that Browser Control. Only problem is, when closing the Application there is a memory access violation. It occurs outside of my application, only when its Thread is just about to...

Ok, so here's a problem you probably don't see every day: We are building an application that must run in a browser, but we need to do some things client-side that would be rather difficult to pull off with the usual browser-side scripting (javascript etc). It's been decided that this one, complicated function will be implemented by hosting a Winform in the browser. Now, this winform contains an ActiveX control (an HTML editor).

How to judge whether a browser supports ActiveX? Some browser like Firefox doens't support ActiveX by default, but can do it with plugin support. Take Firefox for example, it has a whitelist (activex.js) of allowed ActiveX. So, "new ActiveXObject" may not be a good idea. The ActiveX control for test is possibly not in the whitelist. Is there any better way to do that?

Hi, Does anyone have a a cross-browser setOpacity function that does not use browser sniffing? I looked at the Yahoo! UI function and it detects IE by looking for window.ActiveXObject. I also looked at Scriptaculous and it uses navigator.userAgent. Thanks, Peter

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
