All,
If anyone has been following my trials over the last week see(Setting up a
Web Application on IIS 5.1 and ASP.Net Security Problems).
I'm having a problem running a Asp.Net Web Application. I've finally
narrowed the problem down to a security issue: The ASPNET (aspnet_wp)
account cannot connect to a Network resource instead of using a local path
ie: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot my development site resides on a Network Share...

I am in a shop where developers are required to work off of a networ
share. This is so that code and other documentation is backed up nightly. This is outside the realm of Visual SourceSafe which we also use for code control. The network drive is used as the working folder. This is a configuration this shop has used for 6 years and I do not see it changing any time soon

Hi everyone,
My coworker has a simple desktop app created in VB.NET.
He compiled it and posted on the network drive. When we try to run it from
it's network location, it generates unhandled exception error.
When we run it from local machine it runs fine.
Two things I want to get clarified.
1. Does VB.NET requires any specific namespace to be imported to run the exe
over network?

We're in the process of writing a new Windows Forms app and the desktop
support folks want for it to be run from a network share. I know it's
possible (i.e., just have the framework on the clients and a desktop
shortcut to the exe out on the network)... but is it really a good idea?
What are some arguments for and against running a .NET Windows Forms client

Can a vb program running as a serice not use network paths to do file/io?
I can't seem to get my program to work with network paths and files. When I
use local disk it works fine. When I run it as a none service program it
works fine. I'm assuming that vb programs running as a service do not
support network paths. Is that true?

I'm developing a program that runs using an asyncore loop. Right now
I can adequately terminate it using Control-C, but as things get
refined I need a better way to stop it. I've developed another
program that executes it as a child process using popen2.Popen4(). I
was attempting to use signals to stop it (using os.kill()) but I keep
running into a problem where sending the signal causes an infinite
loop of printing the message...
