Hello.
I tried a sample programm using placement new. I am not sure if i
understand this technique correctly. I do not mean usage but a real
world application. Could anyone to describe some applications where it
gives reason to use placement new? My doubts come from my consideration
that if I delete an object (e.g. 50MB) then system can allocate this
chunk of memory to another process and my process will not be able to
re-use this...

I am a little confused how the memory for objects is allocated in
JavaScript. David Flanagan, in "JavaScript: The Definitive Guide,"
states that each property of a class takes up memory space when
instantiated. So space is created for aMethod three times in this
example:
// Example 1
function aMethod() {/*stuff*/};
function AClass() {
/*stuff*/

Hi,
I notice if I run my application, the Windows Task Manager
shows the application using around 20MB of memory.
However, after I minimized the application and
maximize/restore the application again, the memory usage
dropped to around 5MB.
It seems like only after startup, it uses up to 20MB of

Hi, I couldn't find what I was looking for by searching the newsgroup, but perhaps these have already been discussed somewhere. This is a bit long with a lot of interrelated questions.
What I've got is a decodeImage.aspx page that gets called to decode base64 encoded images and return them as displayable images to a Web page. The ASPX page is passed two parameters, "file" and "img". The "file" parameter specifies and XML file on the Web...

I have recently been deploying a asp.net extranet application.
The asp.net worker process starts off with 30MB virtual memory and then upon
serving a few pages, the memory usage increases to a WHOOPIN! 200MB and
eventully the asp.net process restarts at 300MB and my application becomes
"unavailable" with my sessions being destroyed.
Is there an explanation why the asp.net process uses that much memory?
After i have logged out of my...

I have a script which uses a lot of object augmentation (in order to
extend the functionality of DOM elements), and I'm clearly stressing
out my browser (I rapidly get to a point where Firefox is telling me
that the script is "unresponsive", often more than once. I'm not sure
if it's simply execution time or memory usage.
My question is this: if I augment an object thusly:
function TestAug() {
this.fun = function() {

Hi,
Our website has recently been experiencing some problems under load. We have
pinpointed a particular function which slows dramatically when we have these
problems. Normally it should execute in under a second but it rises to about
one minute under duress.
The code is fairly straight forward with no calls to databases or any other
servers. The only dubious thing I can see is that it retrieves several arrays
from the Application...

we cannot stop the application from increasingly use memory. The CRM
Worker process will continually consume memory but not release it back
to the system. Please research into how to make the application consume
less memory or at least release the memory when it is done processing a
request.
It seem like you can be logged in for any amount of time without an
issue, I've been told you shouldn't be logged out until idle for 2
hours but...

I have a global.asax file with Application_Start defined and create some
static data there and in another module used in the asp.net application and
I realize that static data is shared amongst child apps of an IIS
application and can be used by multiple users during the application life
cycle and for multiple page loads for the same or different page under a
root application.
What I don't understand and need to know is whether that...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
