If people don't install the original patches, they will get faked patches by
mail.

Kinda glad to see that I'm not the only one receiving these.

My virus scanner seems to pick out the virus intermittently, wonder why?
Can my comp be infected by previewing the message?

Unfortunately you can't filter HotMail messages by size, nothing else seems
to work with so many different subjects etc.

Hi,

I have a rule in Outlook for "Cumulative patch", "undelivera ble mail",
"undelivere d mail", "undelivera ble mail", "returned mail", etc. in the body.
It catches most of them (was over 100 day; getting fewer now I think).

It seems to have started to fall off, I never set an outlook rule and i'm
down from 20-30 every 30 minutes to one or two an hour.

Thats something, atleast.

Hi all. I am administrating an sgi/apache webserver. Whether we will upgrade our website to contain a mysql-database and a php-module depends on the amount of administrative work necessary for maintenance (how many patches need to be applied per month). Check out the Microsoft support groups post this weekend. The weekend of "patches". They seem to have broken COM/.net interop on W2K. ..Net apps calling any COM component are met with nasty, unresolvable "security" errors that can't be fixed with dcomcfg or the .Net configuration manager.

I have heard of security issues with IIS while on a T1 line or on a cable modem, etc. I learned of a "break in" at a state office, and it was traced to an "open door" while using IIS. Due to that break in, research was done which resulted in the consensus that MSDE applications were also vulnerable. Any thoughts one this? Does anyone know if...
