Hello =)
I have an object which contains a method that should execute every x ms. I
can use setInterval inside the object construct like this -
self.setInterval('ObjectName.methodName()', this.pinginterval);
- but is there no way to do this without using the literal ObjectName? If I
write 'this.methodName()' I get "Line 1 Char 1: Object doesn't support this
property or method." in IE, and nothing happens in Firebird.

Hi all
I have code for an object factory, heavily based on an article by Jim Hyslop
(although I've made minor modifications). The factory was working fine using
g++, but since switching to the Intel compiler it has stopped working. I
think the singleton pattern static instance thing may be at the root of the
problem, but I'm not sure. I had to add calls to instance() in regCreateFn,
which gets the behaviour more in line with what I was...

The book "C++ Coding Standards" by Herb Sutter and Andrei Alexandrescu
warns against potential memory leaks when having multiple calls to
operator new within a single statement. (Item 13, page 25.) These
leaks would still be there when wrapping the result of each "new" in a
temporary smart pointer object.
Is there a simular risk when having multiple calls to new in member
initializer list of a constructor? For example:
class Foo

I would like to create a static array of classes (or structs) to be used in
populating name/value pairs in various WebForm drop down list boxes, but am
not quite sure of the construct (or rather to use structs instead of classes
in the array insofar as structs vs. classes appears to be controversial in
C# -- with some recommending avoiding structs altogether).
It needs to be an array something like this:
struct NoteValue

Here are some questions that i am interested about and wanted to here
an explanation/discussion:
1. (general) Is the objectness in JavaScript was supported from the
very first version of it (in browsers) ? What about the new syntax of
creating a object using { 'propName1':'propValue1',
'propName2':'propValue2', 'propName3':{ /* another object */ } } - from
what version of JScript/JavaScript it was supported (from what browsers
versions) ?...

Hi all,
I've recently been following the object-oriented techiques discussed
here and have been testing them for use in a web application. There is
problem that I'd like to discuss with you experts.
I would like to produce Javascript classes that can be "subclassed"
with certain behaviors defined at subclass time. There are plenty of
ways to do this through prototyping and other techniques, but these
behaviors need to be static and...

Hello,
I tried several books to find out the details of object
initialization. Unfortunately, I'm still confused by two specific
concepts, namely default-initialization and value-initialization. I
think default-init calls default constructor for class objects and
sets garbage values to PODs. Value-init also calls default
constructor for class objects and sets 0s to POD types. This is what
I've learned from the books (especially...

It seems that the only way to construct a struct from a type is to use
Activator.CreateInstance. Is that true? Can anyone improve
(performance-wise) upon this function below:
/// <summary>
/// Create an object of the given type
/// A default constructor is required to be successful.
/// A failure will return null.
/// </summary>

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. However, people are often confused as to whether an ONU can Work As a Router. In this blog post, we’ll explore What is ONU, What Is Router, ONU & Router’s main usage, and What is the difference between ONU and Router. Let’s take a closer look !

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
