I just wanted to say this....

I've been visiting this newsgroup for a while. You guys are an AWESOME
asset to this newsgroup! THANKS for being so responsive and providing such
helpful information. You guys help make this a great community, where
advanced AND newbie programmers feel welcomed.

I especially appreciate you guys putting up with the newbie and previously
answered questions that appear all the time.

Glad we could help out. I am fairly certain the MVPs I have personally met
feel the same way. I cannot vouch for the rest. ;-)

As Gregory said, we're glad to help. Books and articles are great, but
sometimes it just takes being able to ask questions of people who have been
there just like you are now to put something into perspective. We've all
been newbies here at one time or another ;-)

I also paid him to misspell my name,
but spell correctly the other MVP's names.

<chuckle>

More on topic: it's posts like Cirene's that MVP's live for.
It's a great feeling when someone posts appreciation for good tips/explanations.

Hi there, We all know Steve Santos. He *really* is an advertising and job-hunting machine. A lot of us have asked him *many* times and in different ways to stop his blatant advertising. This has been repeated for years and years now. Result: Unfortunately nada. He just doesn't give a shit. He is only very offensive in his answers to these requests. Also he has been 'kill-filed' by many of us. Result: Nada. He did not get enough answers...

At the following site below, microsoft lists the Byte Order Marks as follows: Big Endian - FFFE Little Endian - FEF http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/intl/unicode_42jv.asp However, in the vb.Net help, it lists them as reverse and using the Encoding class and the .GetPreamble method, it also gives FEFF for Big Endian and FFFE for little endian. Is this an error on Microsoft's part at the above website or...

Hi, I have different VB.NET-applications that threat records from my table. To be sure a record isn't threated by two applications at the same time, I want to leave a mark in the record on the moment it is selected, so the other applications know they don't have to use that record. It should be something like this: SELECT TOP 1 * FROM tblMyTable WHERE Mark IS NULL

Express C v9.1 I'm having a hell of a job trying to reduce the highwater mark for various tablespaces in Express C. DB2MART advises to reorg several tables with LONGLOBDATA and to disconnect, reconnect between each step, but the tablespace snapshot is still showing a highwater mark as follows. Total number of pages = 2560000 Number of usable pages = 2559960

Hello, I am a rookie web developer and faced with an important decision of choosing the development platform and language for a brand new software my company is about to build. Whereas I am leaning towards ASP.NET simply because of my familiarity with C#, a more important factor of compatibility comes to mind. The big question is how ASP.NET 2.0, 3.5 and MS AJAX technology support Mozilla Firefox and Safari.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
