Just recently, I happened came across one .net multithreading book saying
that multithread programs might get differential in stability when running
on single CPU machine compared to a multi-CPU one.The book also recommands a
way in .NET to run specific thread on specific CPU.
Now I am facing a new project which is going to be deployed to either a
single or a multiple CPU machine. My problem is: can .NET 'automatically'
detect CPU status...

Hi-
I am developing an ASP.NET application that can take a few seconds to
process the request from the user. We are looking for a client-side
solution that will prevent users from resubmitting the page multiple
time in their irrational impatience.
There are a few posts on this group which suggest that we use
JavaScript hooked up to the page's OnSubmit event to catch mulitple
submissions. See postings by Craig Deelsnyder et alia.

I have a dataset with multiple data tables. I need to bind this to a wizard
interface, where each portion of the wizard udates the information in one of
the datatables. I am using formviews in each screen of the wizard since this
seems to be the only way to databind anything in ASP.Net 2.0. I could not
set the datasource to go against the dataset directly, since the methods to
populate the dataset are in the dataadapter objects, and...

I need to design a system which represents multiple "projects" in SQL
Server. Each project has the same data model, but is independent of all
others. My inclination is to use one database to store all projects.
Looking at the numbers involved, however, I wonder if I would get
better performance by storing each project in its own database.
Suppose I have 50 projects, each with two users and 10,000 rows; it
seems to me I'd rather have 50 x...

Hi guys, terribly in need of help. There are multiple gridviews on my web page. I would like the data to be downloaded in a single excel book but with multiple tabs. I don't want client-side scripts. What are the options on server-side. XML spreadsheet, OWC11.Spreadsheet, tried all but no success.

I have an application with many GridViews used to select records for further
processing. Usually a value from a dd or text box and a selection from the
grid are required to proceed (using a button event). RequiredField
Validators work fine for the single field controls (dd, tb, etc) I am
looking for a simple/consistant client side way to validate that a row has
been selected. Preferably using some type of control (most of the team have...

I have a problem that can be simplified to the following: I have a
table with three columns. I need the middle column to be fixed width,
let's say 100px. The other two columns I want to be variable width,
such that one (say the left column) will minimize its width to the
smallest it can be while still fitting a short line of text (no more
than 32 characters) on a single line with no breaks. The right column
I would then want to maximize...

I would like to reuse the code for gridview sorting for each of the several GridViews that I have on one page. I've not done this before, so I am seeking a more elegant and reusable solution than coding events for each of the 4 gridviews I have.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
