How to check if cookie not exist?

How do I check to see if a cookie exists or not?

I tried these 3 but they don't work...

If Not Request.Cookies ("UserSettings" )("IsAdmin") Is Nothing Then...
If Request.Cookies ("UserSettings" )("IsAdmin") IsNot Nothing Then...
If Not IsNothing(Reque st.Cookies("Use rSettings")("Is Admin")) Then...

They all give me a System.NullRefe renceException.

Thanks!

Tell me if my assertion is wrong here: The only way to prevent session hijacking is to NEVER store authentication information (such as name/password) in the session. Well, to never authenticate a user from information you got from the session. Each secure app on a site must challenge the user for name and password, each and every time the user accesses it (not just once and then store it in the session). If a secure app is multi-page,...

Hi All, Just wondering how you go about changing the value of a session cookie via javascript? I have a PHP page that sets a session cookie when it first loads. I'd like to be able to change the value of that session cookie in response to a button click in a form, without resubmitting the page. For some reason, the following doesn't seem to work:

I have a multi-page site that I want to be able to resume at the same page if the user leaves and comes back later (say, days later). I'm thinking that I'll set a cookie as each page is displayed and when the main/first page displays, I'll look for the cookie and open the page it names. If a new version of the site omits a page that used to exist or if the cookie somehow becomes corrupt, I don't want to display an error when I try to...

Hi, I have a web application that has a number of users who administer their own data... i have several pages that check to see if a valid userID session exists, and if not, send them to a Login.aspx page (where a userID session is generated upon successful login). my pages are user specific, so each page will load data specific to that user (hence the need to maintain a userID). if users attempt to hit a page that requires a userID,...

The following is a sample of the code I am runinng: To write the cookie: This code runs if the user is not logged on the site and the cookie does not exist.

ERROR: Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. This if then statement only works if a cookie exists. It fails if the cookie does not exist. How can I turn off lines 2 to 9 if a cookie does not exist (ie: if the cookies does not exist then create one)?

Hi, I have a asp.net page that checks if any one of the two cookies exists. If none of the cookies exist then redirect the user to login page. Cookie “try” doesn’t exists. I can see that cookie “mode” exist, but for some reason the following code fails to detect it and keeps redirecting user to login.aspx page which it shouldn’t because the cookie “mode” exists Can someone tell me what could be the problem?

Hello, I have discovered that if I try and add a cookie when one by that already exists, nothing happens. No error, but the cookie is not set to the new value. For example (this is running in a DLL, which is why I use HttpContext)... HttpCookie cookie = new HttpCookie("fred", "ferret");

I found a great cookie script below, but don't know how to make it also pass the values sent to the cookie, to a querystring as well for tracking purposes. Can anyone help? If there was a way to simply pass the values in a cookie to the querystring that would be even easier, but from what I've been able to tell, cookie values can't be passed to a querystring. I'm sure the answer will help alot of others who are using this script, and would...

Hello all, I'm still a bit new with JavaScript, and I hope the guru here can shed some light for me. It's regarding handling cookie and the case-sensitive nature of JavaScript itself. My problem is how do I handle the "path" parameter in cookie. First, the sequence start at http://www.testServer1.com/TestApp/page1.htm, and a cookie is set at

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
