Consider the following XML document:
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
<bar:foo xmlns:bar='someuri'>
<baz/>
</bar:foo>
What namespace does baz belong to? What is this namespace bound
to/associated with? My understanding was that baz above belongs
to some "default default namespace", but I have not been able to

It is typical to put the line:
using namespace std;
at the top of a file which makes use of std library objects. To take
a simple example:
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;

I am working with a large C++ program which, for reasons of backward
compatibility, uses C's printf and fprintf rather than iostreams.
For a certain type of build I want to provide new functions that
change the behaviour of printf and fprintf, and I planned to make them
available using a convenient namespace, called 'herring', say, like this:
using herring::printf;
using herring::fprintf;

If a class is not given a namespace, what does this imply?
From inside of the class, if to call global functions, should global scope
:: be used at all?
If global scope :: used, what benefits does it bring?
Thanks in advance!

I've been toying with a namespace manager, and wanted to get some input.
So what do you think?
if (typeof com == 'undefined') var com = {};
if (!com.unFocus) com.unFocus = {};
com.unFocus.Namespaces = new function() {
this.register = function(namespace) {
namespace = namespace.split('.');

If this is not the most appropriate group for this question, please let
me know.
I noticed an odd priority difference in resolving names in VS 2005 (VWD
Express) vs. the .NET 2.0 compiler (the one accessed from within VS).
Let me give an example to clarify things.
In a test solution, I created two web form pages with codebehinds and a
class in the App_Code folder:

Hi all,
Since I am always confusing this, I want to know once and for all what
is the right way of doing this.
I've noticed that some programs use:
std::cout<< "yadayada"<<endl;

Is it best to include the code "using namespace std;" in the source or
should each keyword in the std namespace be qualified by the namespace tag,
such as
std::cout << "using std namespace" << std::endl;
Myself I am not sure which I prefer, it is certainly easier to specify that
the std namespace is being used instead of tagging each member of the
namespace?

Hi all,
We have a few existing classes that we want to put into either another
class or a namespace, so that we can avoid naming conflicts. As far as
I can see the syntax is identical from a usage perspective.
Does anyone have an opinion on this either way?
Thanks

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
