Developing auction site?

Where can I find information (books/links/webcasts, etc) that'll give me the
basic architecture of developing a site? It won't have all of the advanced
functionality of sites such as ebay, but it would include the basic
functionality of an auction site: the user registration, real-time auctioning
or buying of the item, posting items, payment of item purchased/listing made,
feedback, departments and categories, etc...

Are there any books or links asp.net that deal mainly with developing an
auction site and the database structure for something like this? Or would it
be better to purchase an application package?

Thanks.

I've been looking for an auction script to use as a starting point in a rewrite of a coldfusion auction site. The site is a member's only auction, where different categories of *users* may not be able to see all the auctions, so I know anything I get will need customization. I looked at the only freeware scripts (webAuction - german scripts based on phpAuction). It was nice, with a good start on i18n (most text was in a separate dialog...

Hi, I am currently working on a web auctioning project using .NET technologies as part of my University dissertation. I have gathered a fair amount of information through my research on the general structure of auction applications that includes database designs, bidding algorithms, security/login mechanisms and end-of-auction services -all in .NET. My project description is as follows: The objective is to develop a Web-based auction

I have a problem with resolving the proxy bids on an auction site. If 2 users simultaneously post proxy bids to the same auction at the same time I can't seem to resolve these properly. Currently, I am keeeping an arraylist in global.asax and locking/unlocking a list of the auctions that are resolving, I'm seriously concerned with the performance of this. Can anyone suggest a way of ensuring that the bids get resolved in order?

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
