Multi User Problem with Auction site

I have a problem with resolving the proxy bids on an auction site.

If 2 users simultaneously post proxy bids to the same auction at the same
time I can't seem to resolve these properly.

Currently, I am keeeping an arraylist in global.asax and locking/unlocking a
list of the auctions that are resolving, I'm seriously concerned with the
performance of this.

Can anyone suggest a way of ensuring that the bids get resolved in order?
would MSMQ do this better?

Thanks for your help

Anyone know where I can get tutorials, or find resources on creating php-based auction sites? There seem to be quite a few commercial versions, but nobody to explain the theory/how-it-works. :-( Tutorials, articles, anything?!?!

I am looking for some additions to a Perl-based auction script. I need to set up a system that allows buyers and sellers to e-mail each other without sharing their contact information. This will include some mechanism that uses my auction site as a proxy for the messages and a parser of the e-mail messages to identify any contact information (telephone number, e-mail address or mailing address) in the body of the e-mails. E-mails flagged...

Could someone assist with getting the count function working correctly in this example please. I know the count function will return all rows that do not have null values, but in this case I want to count all the rows except those with a zero sale price, (which are unsold). The table shows works offered for sale by an artist, with a positive figure under SalePrice indicating a sale, and I want to count the number sold by each auction...

Is it possible in VB.net to have a single or singleton instance of a class per specific database record. I'm writing an auction site and have a problem with resolving proxy bids, effectively I am creating an unlimited amount of "Auctioneers" for the site as a whole (which is definitely wrong). I could create a singleton "Auctioneer" Class for the site with a singleton but feel this would be a performance botleneck. Ideally I would...

Hi all, I've come across a problem when casting user controls in ASP.NET 2.0, hopefully someone can help. I have a master page with a user control on it (myMenu) that I wish to programmatically access from a content page. Below is how I am trying to do this (this would work in ASP.NET 1.1). DynamicMenu myMenu = (DynamicMenu)((MasterPage)this.Master).FindControl("myMenu");

I have setup a public variable in the Master Page "code-behind-file". Now I would like to set that value from the UserControl, but I can't seem to find a way to do this. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm basically trying to set it up so that I can keep the User infor (userid, ect) in the Masterpage so that other pages can access it. Thanks for any ideas. Michael

I'm setting up an auction website using PHP and MySQL. There in the section where logged in members can put up new auction in a form, I want to run a form validation where I used if else statements to check the fileds filled. In the form page there are two radio buttons - fixed and auction - (only one can be chosen) and depend upon which one is chosen some text should be inserted in the text fields. For that I'm using a validation where...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
