I would like have a little "loading..." tab not unlike the one that
gmail uses and I would like to display that tab while an ajax call is
made. The javascript to display the tab works. The javascript to hide
the tab works. But when I put the two together inside the function
that calls the ajax service, they don't work.
What seems to happen is that calls to change DOM object properties are
queued up, and then all executed...

So ajax is the new black, i've had a couple ideas about how to
implement it. I've alook at ajax.net and few other implementations but
to me they're a bit complex. Maybe it's the way to go to have better
coding.
In the standard case of a dropdownlist, or listbox, that needs to be
filled as the user types (aka google suggest), i thought it might be
best handle the following way.
javascript engine <-> xml request <-> asp.net web service...

I'm having a problem with calls to a web service that time out
intermittently. When the problem occurs the exception is put in the
event log with a message of
InvalidOperationException: Client found response content type of
'text/html; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'.
The details in the event log suggest that an HttpException occurred
with a message of "Request timed out.", which caused the subsequent
InvalidOperationException.

All:
I have prepared a .NET 1.1 client application that consumes a remote,
public web service. All the functions work as expected, and, in
general, the application has been successful for my purposes.
I have discovered one bit of behavior that surprises me, however. At
certain times, under heavy server-side loads, my calls to certain web
service methods will time out on the *client* side (proxy timeout). My
assumption was that the...

Hi
I have asked this on the official asp.net forums but no luck so
thought I'd try here
Assume you have a page with a filter control and a grid view and many
other controls on it. When the filter changes you want the gridview to
change but nothing else. In particular all you would like to happen is
for an ajax call to occur and a new grid view to be returned.

Greetings! I was researching AJAX to provide a solution to displaying status
messages while a long process executed. I found several examples online and
was able to use their code to get a quick application working. However, when
attempting to implement the solution, the AJAX calls weren't updating the
screen like the examples were and seemed not to fire until after the long
running process had completed.
I found the only real...

Hi All
I have a need for an asp.net page to make a call to a server which it did
not originate from when a button is clicked.
A simple call to pass 2-3 params and return a result. I am happy to use an
asynchronous model to do this.
I control both servers. I have been looking at Ajax and PageMethods (Ajax.Net
and Ajax Pro) and have even been looking at Calling a webservice from JS.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
