I am developing an application that needs to store some machine-specific
settings. The application is going to be published on the network in
order to keep the clients on the latest version.
Because of this, I am unable to store these settings in the App.Config
file, as this gets updated every time the application does, and there
doesn't appear to be a way of preventing this.

In a Microsoft setup project, I have added some files to the
application folder in the file system. When I run the setup.exe on the
target machine, my files appear in the application folder named
correctly, but they all are zero K in size. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi Everybody,
I have created a setup project in Visual Studio .NET 2005. The setup is
for Windows application. It works fine but I am unable to do somethings
is this:
1. The setup uses couple of files and dlls. There are 2 files: one is
help.xml file and other is help.chm file. Both have same properties in
setup project. But after uninstall, help.chm file is removed from the
install directory but help.xml remains there.

I have found that many of my potential users of my application are not
able to write to their program files directory on C:\program files,
however they have access to 'My documents'.
i have mapped some code to 'c:\documents and
settings\%username%\documents' but I dont know how to map the default
deployment application folder to that directory. The current default
is \ which maps to 'c:\program files\hilda

Hi when I publish my application using the publish wizard in VB 2k5
Everything works fine, but after i run through the installation of the application setup.exe. There's a folder missing which required the application to run the images on.
It is an external folder, when i debug application it runs fine, i guess is somehow when it got publish, it leaves out the image folder.

I have 2 web applications: ParentApp and ChildApp. The ChildApp root folder
is setup like this: ParentApp/ChildApp. I set the output folder of the
ChildApp under the build section in VS2005 properties for the project to the
ParentApp/bin folder. Everything builds ok, but when I run a page in the
ChildApp, I get something like: Can't load 'namespace.type'. The file
ChildApp could not be found. Is there any way to fix something like this?

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
