Some of the component vendors claim to do it.
Yet there are no source code samples for how to do it yourself.

I am trying to implement a file upload progress indicator (doesn't have to be a progress bar) using atlas... I do realize that the indicator cannot be implemented using Update panel control, but is it possible to implement it using some other control, for example a floating window?

I've written a program that uploads a file via FTP to my server. It allows you to select the file you want to upload, type the path to upload it to, then upload it. While it's uploading it uses a loop to keep track of the progress in this format:
