Persisting authentication info when browsing to a subdomain

Is it possible for authentication using asp.net membership to persist
from a
site to a subdomain?

The scenario I want to provide is:
User browses to the page somesite.com and logs in.
User clicks on link that points to the subdomain demo/somesite.com.
Is it possible to retain the authentication information for the
subdomain, so that there is no need to log in again?

To clarify - what I am trying to do is to have a login page on my main
site. Once the user is logged in, they can browse to a subdomain, for
which all the pages will be restricted based on role. If the user is
logged in with the allowed roles, they can browse all pages within the
subdomain.

Regards,

Greg

Dear All, I'm new to ASP.NET and have been developing a small app at work to test Forms Authentication. When running on my development machine (using http://localhost/TestApp/Login.aspx for example) everything works fine - that is, a successful (authenticated) login grants access to other app pages and the authorization cookie is saved as...

Some questions on forms authentication: 1) Can one do one's own checking of username and password and totally bypass calling FormsAuthentication.Authenticate? 2) does the "new FormsAuthenticationTicket" create a cookie? 3) Can one send the cookie back to the browser just by doing the new call on the FormsAuthenticationTicket?

I added a Hidden Form Field to a form in the code behind. The value is being set in JavaScript client-side, but it is not persisting to the server in the PostBack. I know the value is being set properly because it displays in the document.write method. Create a simple page and paste the below in the code-behind (ASP.NET 1.1-SP1) using...

Anyone know why this line fails to print anything? document.write(window.top.myWindowArray.name); For that matter, neither does this: document.write('>>' + window.top.myWindowArray.name); I don't get any errors and other writes before and after work fine. myWindowArray is not null and does have elements.

Hi, I was trying to do a simple web scraping tool, but the network they use at work does some type of internal authentication before it lets the request out of the network. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. For...
