It doesn't have one. VWD can only build and copy webs.
If you need to "publish", i.e., pre-compile, a site, you'll need, at least, VS 2005 Standard.

Thanks all..Found it after asking the question so appols for wasting
time...is there any difference in the compiling when using publish vs
the copy function?

I want to copy separate entries in the BIN file (per page) to my FTP
server rather than a compliation of pages...? ok newbie...so not sure
if question is phrased correctly..

Im actually just saving the website (publishing if you will) to my
local drive..im then taking the created pages (html/VB/BIN entry) for
the page ive updated and want to load that on the server rather than
all the pages again...is there any real difference with the copy
functionality vs the full publish funciton on VB premium edition.

thanks again for your assistance and previous answer and btw the
support page link is v good.!

If i've installed SQL Server 2005 Developer, when I come to install VS 2005 is there any need to install SQL Server Express? I would have thought the install would have detected SQL Server Developer was installed and not select Express by default. Do any examples projects for example rely on SQL Express being present? Thanks, Chris

I don't know how much Microsoft is planning to price Visual Web Developer Express Edition. I heard rumors from free to $100. In my opinion I think it should make it free. The reason is to attract as many people to .NET and ASP.NET. This includes people who are in the Linux world using free IDE's like Eclipse and the people who are thinking of switching from Windows to Linux because Linux and Linux tools are free. Even if MS prices it at...

I just downloaded .Net Framework Beta2 and Visual Web Developer Express Edition Beta and Visual C# Express Edition. I installed .Net Framework Beta2, then I installed Visual Web Developer Express Edition Beta but the installation failed because the installation package can't find the Beta 2 (?). So I tried to install Visual C# Express Edition and all is ok (it works fine) I tried to reinstall Beta2 and

I'm just starting to use VWD Express. Supposedly, if I use a separate file (code behind) for my web forms, it should build them into a DLL into the Bin folder. However, no bin folder was automatically created when I create the project, nor when I build the website. And no DLL was placed anywhere in my website folder. How do I build the code-behind files so they would be in the bin folder???

I see that the code behind is now a partial class. So where is the code associated with the server controls declaration etc ? Is this generated on the fly now, or am I missing something ? -- Goofy

When I bought my copy of Visual Studio it came with disks to install the "developer's edition" of MS SQL. However, while installing Visual Studio, the Express version was automatically installed and I have been using the express version with my C# programs. My question is, what, if any, benefit would there be in installing the developer's version instead of continuing to use the express version. Thanks in advance for your responses....

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
