Is there a sure-fire way to deploy an ASP.NET AJAX-Enabled web site to a web
host who refuses to install AJAX 1.0?
How come just copying the System.Web.Exte nsion .DLLs to the application's
BIN diectory would work. I also copied the
v1.0.61025\Micr osoftAjaxLibrar y\System.Web.Ex tensions\1.0.61 025.0 Javacript
files into BIN as well and maybe that is the problem. If anyone has found a
way to publish to a server without AJAX, please let me know what needs to be
done.

The ASP.NET AJAX DLLs need to be registered in the GAC on the server for
security reasons. If this is not done then ASP.NET AJAX will not be able to
function properly because it will not have the permissions it needs.
Perhaps you should look for a new web host?

There are plenty of hosts out there who do have Ajax installed, I would
switch. It's unreasonable for them to refuse installation. It's not like
you're asking them to install some untested 3rd party DLL... it's written by
Microsoft and takes almost no time to install.

I am deploying a winforms app via the windows installer and a VS.Net 2003
setup and deploymnet project.
At the moment, I am adding launch conditions for the .Net Framework 1.1 and
MDAC 2.7 or higher, and am prompting the user to run the relevant setup

I am deploying webapps using XP (IIS5) and deploying them to a Windows 2003
Server box (IIS6). So far so good. However, when I try to manage my w2k3
server from XP, I get an error message saying I can't manage an IIS6 box
from IIS5. Is anyone else seeing this?
Can I take my w2k3 server CDs and install IIS6 on my XP box? Do I have to
uninstall of IIS5 first?

I think some of the changes to Asp.net are rediculous. Take the
ability to deploy source code to production that is compiled on the
fly.
If this is such a great model, why not distribute your source code with
your Windows Forms apps too?
