I have a text box, after user input the value, a validate function
trigered. if the value is invalid, alert display, and also set focus
back to this control.
The alert displays, but when the click the 'OK' in the alert, the set
focus to this field does not work.

i am trying to set focus to a specific control depending on the
outcome of a validator control and it is not working.
none of these methods are working to setfocus:
1. RegisterStartupScript("sf","<scriptlanguage='javascript'>document.form.MyControlID.focus();</script>");
2. Andy Smith's FirstFocus control from

I'm trying to setfocus on a textbox after an error conditions, but the
compile insists that 'textbox.setfocus' isn't a valid command. I'm using all
the web page default setting, but am creating it in a FrontPage environment.
Does anyone know what I can do to make this command work?

I am working on an Asp.Net 2.0.
I created a master page named "MyMasterPage.master".
I created the function "SUM" in my master page VB code.
I then created the page "MyPage.aspx" from my master page.
When I try to use the function "SUM" in "MyPage" VB code it says:
- Name "SUM" is not declared.

Here is a little bit of what I am working ...
I have selected Header and Side lay out for my Master Page. All my
links go on the Side and the content on to the right pane. I have no
problem dealing wiht ContentPlaceHolder and the content pages. I also
have created a log in screen using Loin control and this works pretty
well too.

I have create a master page with the script manager code implimented:
<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server"
EnablePartialRendering="true" >
</asp:ScriptManager>
On my Content pages though now my scriptmanager1.setfocus(myControls)
code no longer works. What is the work around to this problem? I
know I can move the Scriptmanager reference to the local page but
there has to be a better way.
