Localization Advice Wanted

I am doing an ASP.NET 2.0 web site that needs to support multiple languages.
I know how to do this using shared resource files.

We want to allow our clients to select one type of currency and date format
but also allow their users to use the application in different languages
while maintaining the same currency and date format regardless of the
language.

Any guidance on how to do this in the form of articles, samples, links, etc.
would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello, I have the following situation when trying to localize my software: I have BIG solution with about 80 projects. In one of the projects I have a number of dialogs (the dialog project :-) ). I have decided that I do not want to use the "form"-mechanism (using the property "localized=true") for localization since the strings I show are not that "constant" during the life time of the dialog. Thus, I have to put the resources in...

I don't seem to "get" ASP.NET 2.0's Localization features. I've read up on everything... and of course, everything is explained in cursory softball terms- not any "real-world" usage way. I hope someone can give me a clue... Questions: 1) Do my eyes deceive me or is it true that localization is still totally utterly disengaged from the Designer and Property Editor... either in source

OK, I have a database table, it has prices of products in it, like so: ProductPrice MONEY ProductIsoCurrencyCode CHAR(3) Now, both CultureInfo and RegionInfo have currency-handling functions inside them, but I want to display the price on my web site given the information above, plus the current culture of the web site visitor. So, I have

I have an ASP.NET application that was built in ASP.NET v1.1. It has a SQL Server back end database. I have been asked to provide an estimate for the level of effort required to produce a Chinese version of the application. I have read a bit about localization in .NET. However I have no experience with actually implementing localization. Can anyone out there provide some sort of idea as to how difficult or easy this may be? It...

Im writing a small application to allow some none techy people create localized string resources for our main application. So we can reuse modules each one has its own .resx resource file. So my string resource editor needs to be able to work on a project containing several source files at once. At first I planned to do display something simple, similar to a spreadsheet with a column for each language. Then i started wondering if there'd...

I am creating a new ASP.NET 2.0 Web site with that will use language localization. I have been doing some reading and am looking for the best way to approach this. Here are some of the considerations I am dealing with: I want to let the user see the correct language based on their browser setting when they come to the web site the very first time. Then once they have a user name and password for our site if they choose to change the...

Hi, We are developing a site that needs to be localized (english + spanish). The site has a lot of "static" pages with a lot of text, and some dynamic pages. We are unsure how to develop the static part. We could use a localize/literal control and stick content in a resx-file - but it could be several paragraphs in pure HTML and the text is not 100% static. It might change a few times a year. Another way is to have two html pages and...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
