When you hire a lame software designer to create a Starter Kit.

So, I wanted to implement a very, very basic job posting capability to
one of my website. I made some searches and I found there is a JOBS
STARTER KIT !!
Wow, "it's my lucky", I thought.

I proceeded to download and install it, on a testing machine. All when
smoothly. Cool !
I rapidly went and signed up my self, the sign up process asked me to
decided whether I would be a job seeker or an employer. I picked the
first and went straight to post my résumé.
Guess what ? It worked !! Cool, I received a message about my post was
updated and it seems everything went fine.
Then .... "mmh, what next to test ?", I thought, hey let's see how the
résumé looks once posted.
I went to the proper section and received the message:
"You are not authorized to view this page!"

Oops !, I mean Oops !?, well I really meant: w t f !?
Ooh, I get it now, since I'm just a miserable job seeker I'm not
entitled to see my own résumé, of course. Wait, am I NOT entitled to
see my own résumé !? What kind of freaking mind can design a software
like this ?
Yeah, right, I can envision the engineers room "why on earth would a
job seeker search others résumés?" "That's just wrong, they should
not be allowed to do so".

Well, at least I would be entilted to see it in a sort of list? I
thought.
Well, hell NO, of course no, you please don't forget you're just a
miserable job seeker !!

Now, the installation came with 3 jobs already posted. Let's see them.
They probably have a section of "newest posting" where I can see this.
Guess what ? Hell, no !! Of course no, why on earth would one to see
the latest job listing ? What if there are a lap dancer job which would
not fit for me ? That case would make sense ... but would be that worse
that a freaking BLANK PAGE !?

Yes, a FREAKING blank page is what you get when you enter in the
website, even though there are jobs and résumés posted.

Now, this is for Microsoft: can I have my lame blog starter kit posted
on your asp.net website as well and get free propaganda to my company?
Because, hey, guess what ? the software is not directly downloadable
without having to go and visit the software website.

Because it seems, MSFT, that you don't care a s*t about what is posted
there. I thought some quality was required. I was wrong.

Rant over, thanks for listening. Have a nice day !! ;)

In all fairness, these are *starter* kits. If you are a .NET developer
wanting to create a job Web site, I think this kit does provide some value
to you by getting you up and running faster with some working code where you
can start your ownd development. I don't think that implies a guarantee that
you'll be thrilled with what is there and no changes will be necessary.

In all fairness, I totally agree about it is just to "start with".
But come'on, can't I see my own listing ? Does it make sense ?
Could you pass a middle term exam with a software doing that ?

2 Questions: 1.) Can anyone think of a way to speed up this function? It is terribly slow. I plan to reduce the number of directories to 3, which I guess will speed it up in the end. 2.) This seems to be the brute force method, and I'm wondering if anyone can think of a better strategy. I've been asked to make life easy on graphic designers by not making assumptions about where I might find the files that the software might need to...

In short: Is there any way to run Python WITHOUT trying to create .pyc files (or ..pyo) or to have Python not attempt to import the .pyc files it finds? Reason: We have a site-specific package installed on a network drive. When anyone with write access imports this package, the network drive gets spammed with .pyc files.

I am getting strange print-related error messages when trying to create (not print!) reports. For example, when I click 'new' to create a report then choose 'design view', I get an error message that says: 'There was a problem retrieving printer information for this object. The object may have been sent to a printer that was unavailable.' When I choose 'report wizard', I can go through all of the steps but then I get an error message...

I want to create a team to develop a web portal framework. The main purpose of this framework is reusing this in many projects. The major idea in my mind it, building it as much as flexible. We will create the framework with the combinations of the team members. This development will be online and we will use online source controls for both code, and documentation. I think 5 asp.net experienced team member is enough for this project. I...

So, I was just taking a look at doctest.py and saw this: Then running the module as a script will cause the examples in the docstrings to get executed and verified: python M.py This won't display anything unless an example fails, in which case the failing example(s) and the cause(s) of the failure(s) are printed to stdout

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
