Hello,
I have created a class library (.DLL) and there seems to be no way to
debug it. How do I run it in debug mode (setting break points, etc)?
Once I include it into my ASP.NET application the executable code is in
the /bin directory.
Thanks in advance for your help.

You have to open the project that compiles into the DLL, and then you
can add breakpoints etc,
If you want to debug it while you debug your asp.net app, then you can
add the project to the asp.net solution, and add breakpoints. Then you
can debug the class library at the same time as your asp.net app.
Hope this helps!

Thanks Sean!
That worked!

Hello all -
Preface: This isn't a C# Builder question but if you happen to have the
answer to my primary problem, please feel free to chime in ;-)
I'm using Borland's C# Builder (Personal) and it seems there isn't an Output
window (where the Debug.WriteLine() info would go) like VS has. If there
is, I can't find it. I would like to know if it is possible to write a
class with the ability to call a console window that would display...

After reading C# documentation the Conditional attribute seemed the way to
go, but after inspecting the IL it seems those methods are still there and I
imagine the CLR removes them. Using #if DEBUG means the code does not even
reach the IL when compiling in release mode.
Is there any benefit to using the Conditional Attribute? Am I right in
thinking there will small performance overhead using
over #if DEBUG.

The release build class library can only work with msvcr71d.dll and
msvcp71d.dll exist. How to make this class library work on any
machine without using the debug dlls? What are the project settings
that i need to take note so that it will become a "real" release
build without depending on the debug dll?
Can anybody help?

how can I debug a code library using C# 2005 Express? I cannot find any way to make the library debuggable - even when I set DEBUG
and No Optimize on the debug panel of the code library's property panel. When I try to invoke the library from a windows app it
tells me the dll needs to be built using debug. The other alternative would be to set devenv as my startup project for the library
but I can find no way to do this with the available menu...

Very often my VS2005 pro crashes after a debug.
I run ASP.NET debug, and all works well. Then I stop it, and all it's also
ok. Then, when I try to edit some code, it crashes and I need to kill it,
restart, reload project, etc.
it seems that the problem is with vb compiler integration, but I'm not sure.
Is this a known problem? Is there some solution? I cannot spend all my time
to reload VS and projects!

Hello,
In VS2003, I used to have two solutions - a debug and release solution.
Each solution had a webservice project and several other class library
projects. The webservice project referenced all the other class library
projects (i.e. so that it used the dll created when those other projects
were built).
The debug solution was configured so that all the projects in it had debug

I am having trouble getting debug and release builds to work properly
with project references using C++ .NET and Visual Studio 2003.
I created a test solution, with a basic Windows form C++ project.
I then add a class library, and add a reference to this project in the
first project.
When I do a release build, I see the following in the output from the
DLL compile:
/OUT:"C:\Documents and Settings\Andrew\My Documents\Visual Studio

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
