I'm looking for ways to load new class definitions at runtime (I'm not
talking about object instances here, so a persistent object database
isn't what I am looking for ). I'm aware of a few options, but I
would like to discuss the possible side effects for a potentially big,
long running application server.
I am developing a business application based on workflow concepts. The
model is quite simple: a business process is modelled as a...

We have a strange error here.
We have an application that is built in VC++ 6.0 and uses a C library built
using the same. Now, we have migrated to .Net and have used the same source
code to be built using the new compiler.
What happens now is, that any call that we make to the C library(also built
in .Net Env now) from the VC++ Application(built in .Net now), falls prey to
a runtime exception and gets into our try catch block.
We are...

Thanks for your replies. Last week, I continued working with this problem.
Trying to reproduce the error, I developed a short example and found that
the problem is related to strong name dll.
Following is the example to reproduce it.
I have a C++ project (mixed dll, managed and unmanaged), with classes:
EncodeDecode.cpp, EncodeDecode.h, DecoderRing.cpp as follows:

Hi All,
I am facing a very unique problem while compling my project in
"Release" build.
The project is building in DEBUG mode but giving linking error on
Release build.
Here is the error:
Creating library Release/fnimqcmd.lib and object
Release/fnimqcmd.exp
CoIMQCmd.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol

Recently, Microsoft proposed to the C standards comitee a rewrite of
many functions in the standard library to make them safer in usage than
the current ones.
The new functions are specified in the TR 24731.
lcc-win32 has released a first implementation of this TR with most
functions implemented (the wide character versions of those functions
aren't in this first release)

In my unmanaged C++ app (VS 2005) I have written a class that inherits from
exception. I want to export this class from a library DLL, but the compiler
complains because exception is not itself exported. Any words of wisdom?
TIA - Bob

Hi,
I use Visual C# Express 2005 and Visual Web Developer Express 2005.
In my Visual C# Express 2005 Solution, I have following two class library
projects:
_ DataAccess (Namespace name: DataAccess)
_ SystemLibrary (Namespace name: SystemLibrary)
which they both build in their own "bin\Release\" folders.

I just converted a solution from Visual Studio 2003 to Visual Studio
2005 and the Debug mode seems to be running just fine, but the Release
mode crashes on the following code:
std::ifstream in("myfile.txt");
float value;
in >value; //The crash happens here in the getloc() function
The above code is actually from a library built in Debug mode that is
linked into the Release build of the executable. Does anyone have any

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
