Skins disappear when overriding Render method

I'm trying to override the page's render method, and capture the result for
processing, eg:

protected override void Render(HtmlText Writer writer)
{
//base.Render(wri ter);
StringBuilder renderedOutput = new StringBuilder() ;
using (StringWriter strWriter = new StringWriter(re nderedOutput))
{
using (HtmlTextWriter tWriter = new HtmlTextWriter( strWriter))
{
base.Render(tWr iter);
}
}

// save renderedOutput. ToString() to a file
}

This works great, but my page theme (specifically gridview skins) arn't
applied! If I replace the call to base.Render() they work fine - does this
mean skins / themes arn't rendered in Render()???

Thanks,

John

I'm writing a library where I want to override document.write(), but for all document objects; thus, I want to put it in the prototype. I tried Document.prototype.write= my_doc_write ; but it didn't work. I discovered that this seemed to work: HTMLDocument.prototype.write= my_doc_write ; Why does HTMLDocument work here but not Document? Will this second

Hi, I'm using the code below to override the render method in an asp.net page. The code saves the resulting html from the render method so I can then produce a html page from the result. protected override void Render(HtmlTextWriter writer) {

Hi, i'm trying to create a custom Button user control which will be derived from System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button. the normal server side Button class creates some client side javascript code for its onclick event. it's something like: <input type="submit" name="Button1" value="Button" onclick="if (typeof(Page_ClientValidate) == 'function') Page_ClientValidate(); " language="javascript" id="Button1" /> what i want to do is to be able to...

This is one of the weirdest problems I have ever run into. I have had to trim down a bunch of code to give a sample that is more easily readable by those who will view this. Here is the problem: I dynamically add an htmlcheckbox to a webform in the pages render and set the checked value to true. When the page loads, if I remove the check from the checkbox and then submit it, in the submit event the checkbox' checked value is still...

Hi. I am having trouble grasping the concept of applying a consistent theme to an ASP.net website. I didn't used to like ASP because it was too hard to apply a theme from a common theme folder like I could do easily in PHP, but now I see that it has some nicer theming features and master files. So I want to use web.config to switch which theme I'm using, and I want to be able to have several themes. My understanding of themes is that I...

We're pretty new to ASP.Net 2.0 and we're having a discussion about best practice when developing custom server web controls. I can see that in for example the Wizard control the table contained within is a control and all the children are controls. That seems to be a good practice to me, use controls when possible. On the other hand one of the developers here wants to override the Render methods and create child tables with strings and a...

Hi, i'va got a class 'Page'. One of it members is an instance of a template engine. The Page-class has a method render() which calls the functions read(), transform(), transport() and starts the template engine. Now I want to reuse the Page class for a more specialized page 'ImagePage'. So: ImagePage extends Page. This Page contains an extra picture and therefore needs to call image() before starting the template engine. How do i...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
