Install Printer Drivers

If a user navigates to the printers on a domain controller, they can
double click on the Printer Icon and it will install the printer on
their machine. That's great as long as the user knows what server the
printer server is. I have imbed a floor map on a page and I'd like to
put hyperlinks to the appropriate printer on the Print Server. This
way as long as a user can get to my site, they can map their own
printers without having to get a member of IT to do it for them. I've
tried the traditional URL's and they don't work. ie \\DC01\HPPrinte r.
Initially, so as to get this going, I've put an IFrame on the page,
mapping to the Printers. The problem with this is that the view
depends on whether or not their Explorer view is set to Common Tasks in
Folders or Classic Folders. Although this works, the prefered view is
Hyperlinks without the IFrame.

How can I set a Hyperlink to install the Printers?

I have some functionality that I am trying to implement and I cannot figure it out. What I am trying to do is make it so that a user goes to a web page, sees a printer, clicks on a hyperlink, and the printer gets installed on the end-user machine. Much the same as when you connect to a printer through the Start --> Run... by typing in a UNC path. For example: Entering \\printserver01\printer01 into the Run dialog will connect to the...

Hi all Is there an easy way to install a network printer by code in Vb.Net (Meaning connecting to a printer from a server for eg \\MyServer\MyPrinter, so no drivers are required or anything like that). In vb6 i used Wsh to install it, should i continue using the same method or does .NET have a better way of doing it ? Thanks

Hello: I would like to create my own printer driver so that it is available in all applications through the file ->Print menu of applications. The driver will essentially take the contents of what is in the parent application and save it so file (like a file - save as). I will do some information processing when the printer driver is called so I will need it to open a form (like other drivers do). I am reading about pdd files and I see a...

I've tried to find out how to do this on MSDN and other sites, but I can't find an example or even a mention of this. I need to install some printer drivers with my application, anyone know how to accomplish this with a c# Installer Project (MSI)? Thanks for any help, Steve

I am stumped. I lost my printer about a week ago and cannot reinstall it. When I try it tells me that the specified print monitor cannot be found. I have a Dell computer with Windows XP and a Dell Photo Printer 720. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
