Are User and Password transfered in plain text via secure FTP?

I remember that the user name and password for FTP are not encrypted.
I do not know if they are encrypted in secure FTP. Anyone knows the detail?
Thank you for help.

I want to ask how password is stored and how to check the authentication? I have heard password is never encrypted and decrypted, but it is hashed. For example, consider a simple email logon authentication in a hash table: Key: my email address Value: hash_function(my plan text password)

I have a page where a person can edit their account information and one of the things to edit is a password. I'd like to be able to pre-populate this field with something to indicate they have one already, but when I put something like this in the page load: password.text = "xxxxxx" The box still loads with nothing in it. I'd really like to have those password mask dots in there instead of nothing to indicate there is an existing...

Hi, I have developed an ASP.NET application which has been running in production for around 3 months without any major glitches. Recently, a user was attempting to upload a rather large CSV file and ran into a strange problem. After roughly 3 minutes of processing, the application reprompted the user for their user name and password (NT authentication). At this point, the ASP.NET page re-fired the last event that it was processing.

I need a little help here please. I have 2 win forms user controls in 2 different projects that I'm hosting in 2 different virtual directories. The controls have been test and operate okay in both projects. Both controls(dlls) have been signed using SN.exe and I've set up the appropriate .Net assembly permissions using those Strong Names The DLL's have been copied to the /bin directory in both web virtual directories.

I'm trying to retrieve emails via the POP3 protocol from a Windows 2003 POP3 Server. I get a positive response from the server when sending all the commands until the "PASS" command. When I send the PASS command i get a negative response from the server. I've tried turning "Secure Password Authentication" on and off on the server but I stilll get the same response "-ERR Logon Failure" from the server. My code is very simple and just...

hi i have a php site which allows users to save a cookie on their computer which stores their user id details and allows them to auto- login. i'm wondering whether this is safe, is it possible for a malicious user to find that cookie and change its value and therefore auto-login as someone else? and if so how can this be prevented?

Hi, Im trying to create a secure login script for our company intranet. I've created a class to interface with the active directory, so I can test logins by sending the username and password and i'll receive either true or false baclk. However, I dont think it's a good idea to be sending plain text passwords around. I'd like to make an md5 hash of the password before sending it, which I can do in javascript. The problem is that I...

I've seen a lot of questions about how to make secure database passwords. I'm going to go over a method of encrypting a password using the MD5 encryption algorithm for maximum security. First, you will need to download the attached class module (clsMD5.txt) and import it into your database. This class module is the core of what we're about to go over. Thanks to Robert Hubley for writing it - you're my hero! Next, your database needs a...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
