Insert record using Gridview Footer

I have a textbox in the Footer of a Gridview.
When I run an insert command I get the following error:
"
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the
current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information
about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.NullRefe renceException: Object reference not set
to an instance of an object.

Source Error:

Line 87:
Line 88:
Line 89: Dim strOperatorID As String =
CType(GVProgram .FooterRow.Find Control("ddlOpe ratorID"),
DropDownList).S electedValue

"

What is wrong with the code?

Thanks

Based upon some prevoius postings on what to do for adding a 'add' row to a datagrid I utilize the footer to create the 'add' row. The only issue is that I have it sharing the 'UpDate_Command' and I use an argument to difference between an 'edit' vs. and 'add. But since I have field validation on both 'footer' and 'edit' columns I can't submit my edits since the footer validation kicks in.If I take the validation off then the both work fine...

Using Visual Web Developer for front-end development. I want to insert new records in detailsview based on selected gridview record. Hello, I am working with a ListView but I suppose that with a GridView might be the same. Instead of having an Insert Button on each GridView row I would like to have only one Insert button, for example, in the GridView footer. When this button is clicked it should put the GridView in Insert Mode and the EditTemplate should be showed, maybe (?), in the last GridView

Hello, I am new at this, and have been trying to insert data into a table by using the footer of a gridview (which I dont like) or by using a detials view on the same page that is doing the following: 1) gets query string from url and filters records (works great) via a Details View 2) shows notes that have been added to the record shown in the details view using a grid view, and it filters the data by looking at the ID that is selected in...

I was wondering if a command like "SqlDataSource1.insert()" can somehow give me the new index that was created when the insert took place. If the insert always occurs at the end of the dataset then I assume something like "...Count" could be used to figure out where the insert is going to take place. I am not sure if there is a "Count" in SqlDataSource. Unfortunately, I didnt see a callback for something like "ItemInserted" which would give...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
