"Configurat ion Error" (Policy not being applied to reference at this time)

hey all,

recently i was getting this error in my apps:

Configuration Error
Description: An error occurred during the processing of a
configuration
file required to service this request. Please review the specific
error
details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.
...
<add assembly="*"/>
...
LOG: Policy not being applied to reference at this time (private,
custom, partial, or location-based assembly bind).

....and for the life of me i could not figure it out. i tried deleting
all the files in the
C:\WINNT\Micros oft.NET\Framewo rk\v1.1.4322\Te mporary ASP.NET Files
folder, as that usually helps these sorts of problems, but the OS
wouldnt let me! (even w/ "iisreset /stop" in effect). drove me crazy.

then i found it -- my machine's Indexing service. evidently it was
locking this folder and preventing IIS/ASP.NET from copying what it
needed to.

dah. what an annoying bug. i cant believe they havent made it part of
the ASP.NET releases to add this folder as an exclusion to indexing.
hello, microsoft??
anyway. im not real expert on indexing. anyone know how to manually set
a folder for exlcusion from indexing?
thanks!
matt

I have a Dot Net project that references a COM DLL called "Crypto.dll," which is registered on my machine. I added the reference via the "Add Reference" dialog in Visual Studio Dot Net, and I am successfully accessing methods in this DLL in some of my classes. "Interop.CRYPTOLib" is the name of the interop VS.NET created for me when I added the reference. Frequently, when I try to run my application, I get the error that follows.

Hi I have to write images(.gif/.bmp/.jpg/.ico), to db and read them. Uploading images to db works fine for me. Reading from db to byte is also ok. But, when I try to display them in my form controls, I get this error. This is how it goes : <code> byte bImage1 = (byte)datasetImageList.Tables.Rows; System.IO.MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(bImage1, 0, bImage1.Length); this.lblRunImage.Image = System.Drawing.Image.FromStream(ms); //...

Whenever I get any error with Vc++7.1/.net/2003, it is followed by huge ammounts of "template assistance" error messaging referencing template code (MTL) that has nothing to do with the error. This makes it difficult to spot errors. For example, F4 to "jump to next error" just jumps ot the next "template assistance" message. And since there are hundreds of them, this is quite obnoxious. Can I disable these things? Why is MSVC...

I have a web site (www.on-the-matrix.com) that displays photos in a "slide show" format on ASPX pages that run in an inline frame on an ASP page (or in a separate pop-up window). The ASPX pages use a hidden form to transmit information back to the server so it will know which is the next photo to load. All of this works as intended in modern versions of Internet Explorer, Netscape and Mozilla. With Opera, however, users receive a...

I have searched through previous threads regarding this error. I went back through all my code to make sure I closed and set to nothing all open db's and rs's. However, I still have one computer getting this error. This problem does not occur with any other users - some of whom use the database continuously. The user logs in, then goes to the Add Invoice form - it's a fairly simple form, single table recordset with a subform based on...

I used to have no problems using IF-statement in SQL-queries. Now nothing works, it always returns "Syntax error". This query also returns an error. IF (1=1) THEN SELECT 'True' ELSE SELECT 'False' END IF What is wrong? I know it doesn't do anything, but why do I get syntax error?

hi all, i am trying to convert the string "32999" to a number, in order to compare it to other numbers and tell which one is the largest one, or if they're equal. i keep getting an overflow error. this is for a macro organizing numbered folders, so i started out with lower numbers using CInt(myNumberString) which worked fine up to this point. the odd thing is that i get overload using CLng and CDbl as well, even though i understand the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
