Web Hosting Question

Hi,

Total newbie here. I am developing an ASP.NET web application that
will connect to MS SQL Server using the ADO.NET components.

Question:

What are my requirements for my web hosting company? Most of the
web hosting information that I have been able to find says that you get xx
MB of disk space for $xx. But what about SQL Server? will the web hosting
company provide that too? ASP.NET extensions? do I require that too?
Anything else that I should ask for?
Any help appreciated,
JD

You need a host that runs windows servers with MSSQL and asp.net framework
installed.

I've used Boundgrid and have been fairly happy with them.

I have created what I think may be a useful Python module, but I'd like to share it with the Python community to get feedback, i.e. if it's Pythonic. If it's considered useful by Pythonistas, I'll see about hosting it on Sourceforge or something like that. Is this a good forum for exposing modules to the public, or is there somewhere more-acceptable? Does this newsgroup find attachments acceptable? -- Jacob

I was wondering what most web hosting companies would think if I asked them to host a .NET executable application? Are they going to laugh me out the door, or can .NET code be suitably quarantined off so that it can share a server's resources without much of a security or reliability concern?

Do you guys have any idea if web hosting companies usually give access to SQL Server databases through Enterprise Manager? I used to have have access to my DB through EE with my previous provider and now the more I am looking into offers on the net the less I can see this feature specified. What can I do without EE to backup my database in a completely automated way? Can I assume SQLDMO will always be available so that I can backup the...

Hi all, I recently opened an account with a USA-based hosting company. I'm new to the world of hosting providers, and I have a question regarding performance that I'm hoping somebody here can answer in plain language. I have uploaded a static .html page onto my domain. The page links in two stylesheets and a few images - total page size is 65kb. I opened an

I have a really simple test app which consumes two public web services (one stock quote and one Amazon books collection); it works just fine when posted on my local servers but when I publish it to either of my two public servers (shared hosting accounts), I get the .ASPX page ok but when I click the button to access the web services I get nowhere; more specifically, I get this message at the top of the stack: "[SocketException...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
