can I have brain dead security?

Hi
Assume I want to make an asp.net application that, shows one item,
when you click on it
it directs you to paypal and asks for a few details, then returns. What
do I need
to understand about security?
From my perspective security is an issue where if you don't know
about a single detail
then you effectively know nothing, If someone can hack your site via
any route then its simply
not safe for you to deal with money.
My problem is that I know nothing about security whatsoever, I don't
know where to start
to increase my understanding? Is it the responsability of the host? Is
ASP.NET safe to work with?
Where do I start?

If it directs you to paypal, and only paypal is asking for payment info,
then security...in terms of customer data...isn't your concern...it's
paypal's.

I'm wondering if it's at all possible to have spacing between a table's cells, and only between the cells, not between the outter cells and the table's border. See end of message for an example (make sure to view this in fixed width font). I've played around with different things, such as margin-right, etc. but I didn't get any results. Would this be even possible. I would have thought the specs (either HTML or CSS) would have allowed...

I've been battling with this stupid problem for hours now. WebApp: Trying to do a simple transformation using XSLT to a Web Page, but it just failes without an error message ( In other words, it bums out with a general exeption with no message ). It creates the Ouput.html, but errors and does not fill it with HTML.

Dear Dudes, I post this in multiple groups for opening brain storm. Sometime I need to query the data from database server then display them into user's browser in HTML <table>. But if the <table> is very LARGE, let's say 20 columns, hundreds rows. Usually you have header <th> tags on 1st (top) row and 1st (most left) column. For a such LARGE <table>. you really want:

VS 2005 I have: ClickOnce deployment User's that hate and or don't want to use an IE Client (don't blame them) I don't see how ASPX web pages are going to survive? With .NET 2.0 and clickonce deployment my app is 427KB (even with modem dialup speed it doesn't take long to download) -- the user gets a very friendly secure WindowsForm app (most of them don't even notice they're not under IE anymore) that performs considerably faster than...

I have discovered the secret of the soul The soul is the emotion. The soul and the emotion are completely nonmaterial existence. The consciousness and the emotion are inseparable, which means each consciousness accompanies the corresponding emotion. I took a closer look at delegates and events, and it became apparent that events don't offer any extra functionalities over delegates. I don't even see it as syntactical sugar over "overtly obfuscated" delegate syntax. Moreover, you can accomplish everything with delegates that you can accomplish with events, such as combining instances, etc. Am I missing something here? Thanks

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
