I have set up an ASP script (with some help from microsoft.public.inetserver.asp.general!) that grabs the windows username of the user and puts it into an Access database.
It is setup on IIS5 as a virtual directory and will only be used internally on our network.
The script works fine with the authentication set as "basic authentication" but this prompts the user for a login and password.
I want it to be automated which I believe would...

I wrote ASP.NET application that access SQL Server database. When I run the
application, it yields "Login failed for user '<COMPUTER_NAME>\ASPNET'"
error message.
I then did the following, but still didn't work. Any ideas??

2. click directory security tab
3. click edit button on anonymous access
4. click browse button

Hello,
I have custom errors turned on, and am able to catch errors and send the
user to a friendly page. I have one site with "authentication" turned on.
I would like to send a person who doesn't have access rights to a user
friendly page, but I can't catch the following:
HTTP 401.2 - Unauthorized: Logon failed due to server configuration

I have a problem for a Windows Service to login on an SQL server (different
machine) - neither Windows Authentication nor SQL Authentication worked.
LOGIN FAILED FOR USER sa (for example).
If SQL Server is on the same PC of the Windows Service the connection works
OK.
The same code works in a Windows Form using same user and authentication
methods to the SQL Server on a different machine.

Hi,
We have an application running on IIS 6.0, on a windows 2003 box. The
back-end database, a SQL Server 2000, runs on anohter server, windows 2000.
We have enabled integrated authentication, and provided the windows account
the appropriate permissions in SQL Server.
If running the application locally on the server, the user authenticates
fine. When accessing the application remotely, a SQL exception, "Login failed

I know this question has been posted in many places, but I have not been able
to solve our current problem. The developers in my office are all new to
C#.net. We have been developing an application using Visual Studio .NET 2003
and IIS 6 with SQL Server 2000. Up until this point each developer has used
a local copy of IIS and connected to sql server on a remote server without
any problems. Next week we have a demo, and I have tried to...

There are loads of post on this, but nothing that seems to cover my
exact problem ;)
I have an ASP.Net 1.1 web application running on my local machine. I
want to connect to an SQL 2005 server running on Windows 2003.
If I use SQL authentication, all is fine and dandy. If I want to use
windows authentication it gives the above error. My SQL server is set
to allow both methods (first thing I checked) and is part of the
domain (2nd...

I am working on WinXP Pro SP3, .NET 2.0 & SQL Server 2005 (Windows
Authentication). When I run a ASPX page that connects to SQL Server,
the following error gets generated:
Login failed for user 'RON\ASPNET'
where RON is my machine name. I came across a few posts which
suggested adding RON\ASPNET as a User in SQL Server Management Studio
Express (under Security--->Logins node). I did so but that didn't
resolve the problem.

I have an ASP.NET 2.0 application that uses Forms Authentication. The
startup page contains just a login control, and the site works well on an
IIS 6 web server. I am now setting the site up on the production web
server, which runs Windows 2008 Server and IIS 7. The login page comes up,
but when I try to log in, I get the error, "Login failed for user '(null)'.
Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection." For debugging...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
