I am looking for some advice as to which hosting service to use for ASP.NET
2.0 and SQL Server development. I have looked at GoDaddy, BoundGrid,
Interland and a few others but I still haven't made a decision. I also
haven't been able to find a decent service that supports SQL 2005, most
support SQL 2000 but claim that they are waiting for the bugs to be worked
out of SQL Server 2005 before switching over.
Here is what I am looking for;
ASP.NET 2.0 pages, web services, code behind, user controls
SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 with Enterprise Manager support
Multiple Domains
GoDaddy is cheap with a lot of space and bandwidth, but 3rd party tools such
as MS SQL Enterprise Manager cannot be used for database development.
BoundGrid is cheap, allows 3rd party tools for SQL Development, allow
multiple domains (yeah!!), but the storage space and bandwidth in not that
great.
Interland doesn't support ASP.NET 2.0
Thanks 7 1527

I recently moved one of my domains off Interland to CrystalTech. CrystalTech
has a great control panel and is reasonably priced. You can configure a SQL
Server 2000 or 2005 database right from it and they do allow the Enterprise
Manager (with 2000) or the SQL Server Management Studio (2005)
Hope this helps,

I want to get an ASP.Net hosting account with my ISP, and I'm trying
to find out what level of access to the server is requried in order
for me to view the server in Server Explorer in Visual Studio .Net,
where you can see the available database, expand it to get a list of

have an account with the right user rights, but is there some specific

"Although we do support the ASP.NET Starter Kits, we do not do the

upload the kit. You will not be able to compile on the server. You will be
able to set your .NET virtual directories through our web based control
panel. This same support is available for DotNetNuke. We support the
application, but not the installation.

I'm looking for an ASP.Net web hoster for my page and I'd like to know what
I should consider when making my decision.
Since I'm an independent software consultant, my short-term goal is to
attract potential clients to the site so they can see my skills through my
website. I'll send them an email that will have a link to my resume in my
site; from there, they can just navigate through the site. Although most of
it will be done through...

I am new to this so please go easy. We currently have some students doing
some work on some web based tracking documents for us. They are currently
using VB .net to develop what we requested. Anyway I've been calling my
local ISP's and no one supports .net it seems to be all apache and MySQL.
I'm wondering if everyone here can answer a few questions.
1) Can I run vb .net web pages on a regular IIS server without the .net
extensions?

Hello,
There seem to be so many places out there to host asp.net Web
Applications I figured I had better put an article on this forum to get
some advice. Basically I have an asp.net Web Application that I'm
interesting in Hosting on the Web. I'm planning to offer a training
video subscription service for users. They will pay me a certain
amount per month, and after I have processed their credit card, they
will have access to my...

I'd like suggestions on a hosting service but only if you have been
using them for a while. I'm using an aweful service now. They're
servers are slow, go down and tech support is virtually non existant.
They actually answer the phone "hello" but in a very quiet almost
unaudible way. That's the problem - hosting services look so nice from
the outside but you never know how they are until you are there for a
while.
This is probably who...

Hi, all:
I have a website with its own login page. Now one of my clients want
their employees log into my website from their website. They want to
have their login page (look and feel are different and hosted on
another web server) and then send the user id and pwd to my login
page. What is the best to do this?
Pass the user id and pwd on the url is not a solution since everybody
will see the user's credential.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
