Like the title says, my installation of VC# 2005 Beta 2 doesn't seem to have
a Setup kind of project available. Actually, except for the Screensaver
Starter Kit, it has only four types: Windows app., Console app., Library and
Empty project. I have the .Net Framework SDK 2.0 installed (of course, also
the Framework) but no use.
I was used to this handy kind of project since VS 2003 but now I have to
resort to 3rd party software to deploy...

If I try to make any changes to the ASP.NET Portal Starter kit it fails with
an access denied error.
This was working when I left last week and is failing today. I don't
remember changing anything, but I guess something had to be changed. I
have checked NTFS permissions and the ASPNET account has full control on the
parent directory of that XML file and on the file itself. I have also
checked in IIS, and the Virtual Directory has...

I want to create a team to develop a web portal framework. The main
purpose of this framework is reusing this in many projects. The major idea
in my mind it, building it as much as flexible. We will create the framework
with the combinations of the team members. This development will be online
and we will use online source controls for both code, and documentation.
I think 5 asp.net experienced team member is enough for this project. I...

When I study the Portal Starter Kit
(http://www.asp.net/Default.aspx?tabindex=8&tabid=47)
There is a line in DesktopPortalBanner.ascx.cs
PortalSettings portalSettings = (PortalSettings)
HttpContext.Current.Items;
Where to define HttpContext.Current.Items?

When I create a web site (or personal web site starter kit) I don't see a
"release" version in the configuation manager like a default Winforms
application has. Does it not apply for Asp.net?

I want to add some different controls on my web page that have "edit"
capabilities. This would be like a portal starter kit module where, if
authenticated, the user could click an edit button to change the text, add a
document, etc.
Besides using a full blow starter kit/platform, does anyone know of some
add-on components that I could just add to my existing page(s)?
Thanks.

Hello,
I have Visual Studio 2005 and am developing my first web site. I see
TreeViews, ReportViewers, etc. but I'm not sure which approach that I
should choose. Let me tell you what I'm going to do and maybe you can
offer suggestions:
1) I'm going to have a bunch of articles that I'm going to be posting
to this website.
2) I need some sort of "tab" or "tree" structure to the left that

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
