ASP.NET 2.0 Web Site: Where is the "release" Configuration?

va
When I create a web site (or personal web site starter kit) I don't see a
"release" version in the configuation manager like a default Winforms
application has. Does it not apply for Asp.net?

It is set in the web.config
<compilation debug="false" />

Exactly,

it is because ASP.NET now handles the compilation by default (in web site
model). here's more details about it:

Note that it changes a bit if you start using VS2005 additions like Web
Deployment Projects since then Debug & release builds become available via
VS2005.

I'm using Visual Studio 2005 RC and cannot figure out how to produce a "release" build. Am I doing something wrong? I'm wondering if perhaps MS locked out the ability to produce a release build when using the RC since it does not have a go-live license? Or maybe I'm just doing something wrong. I do not want to go live with a release build. Rather I just want to test locally to see if there is a performance difference and also to...

I have developed an web site in VS2005 but I can't build a release version since the option is missing in the configuration manager. The second thing is that there isn't a bin folder placed in my project. Anybody knows how to solve this.

So when I build a VB.net application an .exe appears in the BIN folder, in the OBJ\RELEASE folder, the Debug folder - and even a few other places. So which one of these do I ship to a customer - one would think it would be the one in the RELEASE folder - but with MS what is intuitive is not always the case.... So far I've been shipping the one that appears in the BIN folder - and it appears to be exactly the same as the one in the OBJ/RELEASE...

I have an asp.net VS 2005 solution that was converted from VS 2003 that I have a deployment problem with. It compiles and runs fine, but now that I'm ready to deploy it I cannot set the website build to Release, i.e. the only option that's available is Debug. I've set debug=off in the Compilation tag in web.config but it makes no difference. The solution also contains a class library that I has both Debug/Release options and I can toggle...

Hi, I am trying to build and deploy a web project from VS 2005 and am unable to select "Release" when I look at the configuration manager. I have several other projects that I am using that I am able to set to "Release", but I only can choose "Debug" for the web project. Can anyone help me out while I still have a few strands of hair left? Thanks,

I am using VB in Vs2005. Am I missing something or does VB not have the concept of "builds" (release/debug) like in VC? I wrote an assembly and I would like to have a debug version of the DLL and a release version of the DLL. I would like to create some sample code that demonstrates my assembly in VB and would like to have two builds, one using my debug version and the other using the release version of the assembly. How can I do...

Hi all, After finishing a script in Toad for MSSQL, I saved and closed the file in Toad. I then kicked off our staging process which moves the file from the save location to somewhere else. The staging process choked, coming back with a "file in use" error. After verifying that I had closed the file in Toad, I simply exited out of Toad completely. The staging process was then able to complete the file-move process. Is there anything...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
