VS 2003 Remote Debugging on Win2K

Error Msg: Error while trying to run project: Unable to start debugging on
the web server. Access is denied.

After many hours of scanning MS KB's, newsgroups, and msdn trying all of the
suggestions, I'm still stuck. I've attempted to implement all the
combinations of users, access rights, remote aspx configurations, and local
policies to no avail. Does anyone have a handle on this common error? Maybe
some unpublished trick to getting the remote debugging to work? Anything
would be appreciated.

Thanks

I've had success, and maybe some explanation of connecting to both Win2K and
2003 servers hosting the .NET framework. I've seen about a million answers,
but I stumbled up on a solution after finally being smart enough to at least
pay attention to the servers event log. In my case, the client machine is
part of its own workgroup logged in as a non-administrator. Note that no
errors occurred with the VS 2003 client when it prompted me to log into the
remote server. Only when I would try to 'debug' the app would it fail.

When the Server is in its own workgroup, similar to the client machine, you
need to setup a matching user account (name and password) before trying to
remotely debug. Remember that this user account must have all the privileges
needed on the server to debug in .NET.

I don't know right now what the answer to this might be if the server is on
a domain. I'm thinking that might be some similarity in user setup.

Is remote debugging in ASP.NET possible with the original Visual Studio.NET and Win2K Pro on both the web server and the development machines? If so, where can we find the step-by-step to get it working? Thank you, Kelly

HI, all.... I am testing Vs.Net 2003 Pro for use in our company (from the 60 day trial disk). Currently we are using 2002 Enterprise. In Vs.Net 2002 Enterprise I have the ability (under Debug|Processes) to select another machine from our network and attach to processes running on it. In the evaluation version of 2003 Pro I don't have the ability to select another machine AT ALL. So, I was wondering if that is a limitation of...

I spent a few hours today setting up remote debugging in VS.2003 I had to disable the firewall, subvert the security scheme and let anonymous users have full access to my COM+ objects on my Windows XP workstation, but other than that, it was smooth sailing. And, oh yeah. I also have to run remote desktop sharing terminal between my XP workstation and the W2K target or I can't RPC to the destination machine.

Does anyone know if you can do remote development in Studio.NET 2003? Two machines at home: one is my development server running Server 2003 and SQL 2000, the other is XP Pro with Studio.NET 2003. I want to host my ASP.NET application on my dev server and connect to it with Studio.NET from my other machine. Is this possible???

I have reached the pulling hair out stage with this now: I am trying to remotely debug my aspnet applications on our intranet web server. The server is running Win2K Server, SP4. It is a domain controller. I originally installed IIS & then the .NET framework. I now want to remotely debug projects (copying them back & forth is wasting time & annoying).

Hi, I am having trouble making my new machine to debug asp.net remotely. The IIS runs at a win2000 server (sp 4), and my old win2000 client machine works well with it. However, my new machine has xp pro installed and it has trouble to start a debug process. The error message says: "Error while trying to run project: unable to start debugging on the web server. The debugger component on the server failed to connect to the local machine....

I've installed my server application on our server (win2k3, 64Bit version) and when I try to attach to the process from my Win2k client machine I'm getting an error stating I need to use the 64 bit version of Debugging Monitor. I've checked my visual studio installation directory and I ONLY have the x86 version. I've also checked on my VS2k5 CD and can't find it. Do any of you know where these files can be obtained?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
