tabindex in a web page gives unwanted behavior

Hi,
I have a page where I have the following

<table>
<tr>
<td rowspan=4><asp: textbox></td>
<td><asp:textbo x><td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><asp:textbo x><td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><asp:textbo x><td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><asp:textbo x><td>
</tr>
</table>

I want the tab index to go in the right column and then the left column. I
tried to set the tabindexes of all the controls in the page or just the one
I want to be the last control to have the focus, but I get some weird
behavior where the focus go across all my IE toolbars before going to the
control...

Is there a solution?

Thanks

Dear friends, I am using tabIndex and it works with my IE 5.5, IE6.0, and the NN6 browsers. However, it does not work for NN4. After reading online & seeing in my JavScript Bible that it is NOT COMPATIBLE for NN4,, I am wondering if there is anyone out there with any ideas ,,as to how I may get the same tabbing sequence within NN4...

The reason why I want to do this is that I will set a form's elements to have a tabIndices. I start out with no tabbing. The page loads the cursor appears in a first Input box and until the user "does something" there is no tabbing. This is specific to Microsoft Internet Explorer 5+. Anyway the issue is that although I set the tabbing order...

Hello, I have been playing with various Googled solutions for capturing the <Enter> key to suppress form submission. My first question is whether anyone has a script that works in all common browsers? The script bellow is IE only. It fails FF 1.0 and NN 7. Also, if I can trap the keypress I would like to use it to tab to the next...

I cannot get the tab settings on an aspx page to work as desired. First of all, I don't see a way to indicate whether a control is a tab stop. There is a tabindex property for labels (why?). When I set a specific order for the tabindex values that does not seem to be what happens on a page when the user presses the tab key? My books on...

In VB6, if you set the TabIndex of a control, it would automatically increment the TabIndex of the remaining controls on the form so that there would be no duplication. In VB.net, it seems perfectly legitimate to have two controls on a form with the same TabIndex. Is there a way to mimic the VB6 behavior so that I don't have to reset the...

/* When should we worry about the unwanted chars in input stream? Can we predicate this kind of behavior and prevent it before debugging and testing? What's the guideline for dealing with it? As shown below line #21, I should remove the unwanted characters in input stream there at that time. Do I miss some other possible errors in i/o...

Hi I have three questions about the Tab Order that's rendered by default on an ASPX page: 1. On a page that's all ordered HTML (instead of absolute positioning), shouldn't the default be that tab order goes by it's order in the page itself? I'm having a strange situation where tab order is jumping down to the bottom of the page and then...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
