Hi,
Im trying to validate a form, all the validating works apart from one field.
This particular field must consist of the first 2 characters as letters, &
the following 5 as numbers. And if it dosent meet these requirments an error
message will be displayed. I have pasted the code (and highlighted the
relevant parts) below in the hope that someone can help me out with this.
Ive been trying to suss it out all week & it's driving me nuts!...

Sorry about the unwieldy title, it's difficult to describe it in any
other way.
Basically I have a table in Access 97 which contains a number of
records in different states. When originally created, I do not wish
to make the field Original ID required, however once the state of the
record is changed I require this field to be completed and not be the
value zero.

determined when a form is opened?
I am loading the dropdown from one field ("CategoryName") of a table, with
"ORDER BY ". The values in the dropdown are loaded in the
correct order, but the initial value is not the first row of the dropdown as

Background:
-Access 2k v. 9.0.6926 sp3
- front and backend on production server (wiindows 2k)
-accessed via Citrix
-front-end is mde, backend is mdb
-only occurs on the production server
-only occurs with mde verson - i've tested the problem with the mdb version
of the front-end and it loads/generates the document fine on the production

Hey all,
I wrote on Friday asking for some help moving a common subclass field up
to the base class (original post and followup included below). This
entails storing whole numbers inside float data types. What I'm stuck on
is how to make sure that the value coming in is indeed a whole number,
without converting it to a string and doing manipulation that way. Is
there a mathematical way to do this?

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
