I'm still a novice when it comes to session security issues. The
problems I'm trying to solve may be fairly common, but I haven't seen
examples of solutions in any of the books I've looked at.
I currently have a page called 'login.php' which requires the user to
provide a userid/password combination. If the user logs in successfully
(i.e., the supplied userid/password combination is in the mysql
database), the user is directed to a page...

Is there any way of detecting whether a session variable does not exist
because it expired or because it simply did not exist in the first place?
Thanks

I'm having a problem saving session information on one form and retrieving it
on a subsequent form...for only one out of a number of users. Actually, I'm
not absolutely certain it's a session problem but I'm hoping the experts can
help me figure that out.
Our application uses a session variable to "pass" info from one form to the
next. It has always worked fine for our users until a few weeks ago when one
of our users started having a...

Hi
I have an ASP.NET application that connects to an Access database.
Everything works fine except for the Session object. Data in the session
object is lost after I've made a call to the database.
To test, I've created two test aspx pages. Test1.aspx contains two buttons.
The first button sets values in the session object and then navigates to
Test2.aspx. Test2.aspx only displays the values in the session object.
The second button...

Hi Guys
I was wondering if you can help me out with the following problem. I
created a basic secure | non secure website. So I have the root
directory as publically allowable pages and a directory called secure
with one secure page in it. Hence if I access the secure.aspx page
within the secure directory without being authenticaed then I'm thrown
to the login page.
All seems to work well, the problem I encounter is when the asp.net

Hello all,
Not sure I can describe this adequately, but I am creating an endless loop
when an authenticated user signs out.
When the user signs out, I want to remove authentication, abandon session,
and redirect to default page. I need to use a custom cookie (I track separate
logins to multiple "companies"), so afaik can't use the standard
formsauthenication routines to create/delete the default ticket/cookie.

Hi All,
I built a web application using cookieless session. It merely checks
for the session variable value upon login. This method works fine on
the host pc.
However, when i try to access the application via another pc in the
network, the login page redirects to itself even though the correct
passwd and usename is entered. I did a response.write and realise that
the value of the session variable is not set. How can i solve this

site is opened in a new window. When I opened multiple windows, they all have
the same SessionID. I want ot know how to open the windows with different

I have a simple html document I have been using for some time on my
(i.e.) abc.com domain that uses cookies. I recently purchased a new
domain name and set up a service to redirect my new domain (i.e.)
xyz.com to a sub-directory of the abc.com domain. In other words, when
someone goes to URL xyz.com, they really end up in abc.com/xyz
directory but the MSIE browser says they are xyz.com.
The problem is that cookies quit working in this...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupr who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
