As I understand my admins installed a PHP server and now my plain HTML
pages also want to set a PHPSESSID cookie when loaded into a browser.
Can I suppress this, e.g. by creating a configuration file like
..htaccess somewhere in my public_html directory? Is it possible to
disable the setting of PHPSESSID cookies for plain HTML pages in
general and maybe for PHP pages that don't need to track any session
information?

I'm trying to make a kind of search history containing the 3 last
searched words. So I'm using 3 Session Variables: Word1 / Word2 /
Word3.
In order to get this history working, I need to put the last searched
word in the following Variable.
Ex.:
Session("Word3") = Session("Word2")
Session("Word2") = Session("Word1")

Does anyone have experience with passing variables from an ASP page to
a JSP page.
The way it currently works in passing the SSN in the URL. This cannot
be good.
I thought that storing a unique session ID in a cookie and referencing
the SSN from the Session ID would be the correct way to do this. But
since we have two separate servers, IIS and Websphere, how do we
coordinate the session ID?

I want to know if user disable cookie, will the session still working?
Actually I remember we could disable cookie in IE before (not sure what
version, but I couldn't see
the option anymore. Now I am using IE6.
please advise! Thanks!

Example:
session("IsLoggedIn")=false
Can this be changed on the user's machine by editing the cookie directly?
(Please tell me it can't!).
If so, will ASP know it has been tampered with, and refuse to "accept" it if
changed to "true" ?
Thanks
Giles

I have written some code using transient cookies to send an edited
essay from one html page to another. Each paragraph of the essay is
saved in separate cookie. If the essay is 4 paragraphs long then I
write 4 different cookies.
This works on a Macantosh in Internet Explorer but for some reason on
a PC the cookies turn up empty. If I make the essay shorter then it
works on a PC, so it looks as if I am running up against the size...

I've noticed that in my ASP application that session variables are not carried over from
one IE6 open browser window to another.
Can anyone tell me how IE can do this? It seems like it's a useful protection mechanism
that I can add to my application.
BTW, I'm looking for a way to determine if someone is moving cookies between computers.
How IE and/or ASP handles sessions might give me some insights (and I'm open to
suggestions as to...

I have asp and asp.net web application. When I run it in IE7 in first tab it
starts a new session. When I open second tab and browse to the same site the
new session is not started (infact I need to have new session there).
Whereas, 2 IE instances generate 2 unique sessions. Only issue is with IE
tabs. Firefox also has similar things but lets not talk about firefox here.
I am more concerned with IE only.
Any tips/tricks/missing knowledge.

I'm using asp, not asp.net. I've got some open ended questions that I
was really hoping someone in here could answer, or direct me to some
resources that will help me answer them on my own.
First, the session object. When a new user comes to my site, asp
creates a session object, and a session id on that object. That
session id is sent back to the client and stored as a cookie(?) that
can be used to identify a single user across...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...
